This is really interesting,  I have long felt that mental illness frequently falls under the schizophrenia umbrella, particularly when it is manifested in young people.  I think that treating mental illness is extremely complicated and that every possible avenue of treatment has to be explored, I would say that first any physical links have to be ruled out...then go from there...start with counseling, if possible, I, personally think pharmaceuticals are used much too often and liberally with adolescents.  It is just an opinion but it is based upon observation of a number of young people receiving treatment.  For a while, the diagnosis of "choice" was ADHD also referred to as ADD and then depression was the diagnosis that seemed to be most often chosen, often both were treated with very heavy pharmaceuticals. I think every possible effort should be made to let adolescents NOT be automatically treated with drugs.  As far as the skunk cannabis...I have no idea.  That wasn't around when I was paying attention.  I do know it exists because I have smelled it on people who either just smoked it or were dancing with skunks...it REALLY smells like a skunk.
