Have you ever noticed how life can chug along with you doing the same things, the same way, at the same times as you’ve been doing them for years?  While you have life goals you want to achieve, some seem to be collecting dust in the corner.  Finding the time and inclination to make them a priority seems to escape your day-to-day thoughts.  Sound familiar?

If you can relate to this, it is because it happens to most of us.  We are creatures of habit which can be positive when it comes to healthy routines.  However, we can also get into ruts that require a level of physical and mental energy to break that we just do not have.  As a result, certain goals remain unfulfilled and we continue along the same path, which leaves us feeling frustrated and stuck.

Then every once in a while, we’ll experience a change in our life that forces us to notice what is around us, to look closely at where we are at on our path.  These moments may be prompted by a life event that disrupts our routine – relationship, job, health, etc. – or can come from within us after some deep soul searching.  Either way, they can provide us with greater clarity about what is most important.

So…

These opportunities to change that energize and motivate you have an expiration date.  Motivation that is not acted upon will diminish with inactivity.  If you are reading this blog and thinking about something you have wanted to change, don’t think of the reasons why you cannot achieve it, tell yourself the reasons why you can!  Taking one step today, no matter how small, is a step closer to success than you were yesterday.

There are many resources available to guide you in making a change, and it starts with taking that first step.  When life throws you a curve ball, seize the day and redirect that energy to help you start moving toward a healthier, happier you.
