The holiday season is over, New Year resolutions have lost their luster, and we are all back to the day-to-day grind. Don’t be discouraged. You can keep a bright healthy glow in this New Year by sticking to, or getting back to, your commitment to a smoke-free 2009. Each day you don’t smoke your health improves: your lungs clear, your risk of heart attack drops, red-blood cells stay saturated with oxygen rather than carbon monoxide, you smell better, look better, feel better. You deserve to feel healthier and be wealthier. Don’t let “big tobacco” steal your health and wealth. Stay away from cigarettes one day at a time.

Today there are more tools available than ever to help you manage craving and withdrawal. Use any and all the tools you need to not smoke. Medication, counseling, distraction, a healthy vision, support of friends and family, commitment and determination all can play a part in you staying smoke free. These tools can be found at BecomeAnEX.org When the desire to smoke arises, remember it is temporary, but the long term health effects are permanent. Enjoy a smoke free New Year.
