Day 147 and stupid throat stuff

I went to the doctor today and he agrees that I've probably damaged my esophagus with ibuprofen. It's the same situation that put me in the hospital in December (after which I quite smoking). Apparently it is not healed to the degree I thought it was, so the plan is to continue the dumb medication and to have an esophageal scan/endoscopy to check to what extent I've damaged the dumb esophagus. I explained to the doctor that if this is a chronic thing, I'm okay with it, but I would like to know what's going on. The saga will continue for a while longer, but I'm not as pissed off about it today.

Day 147 of smobriety and it makes dumb esophageal stuff seems super minimal, right?

I have stopped taking ibuprofen unless there is inflammation I need to handle. It's bad for so many things. I didn't know it was harmful to the esophagus, too. I noticed they have changed the commercials for it. They used to say something like, "what sprained ankle, what pulled muscle?" and now they just mention "sore." Ya' think they realized it was not a good idea for people to keep going water skying with a pulled muscle?
I will be thinking of lucky you taking a nap when I am crutching in the rain, in a broken foot boot, three blocks from the parking garage to the dental school, after driving downtown in the rain this afternoon.
Hoping it gets better sooner rather than later.

  YoungAtHeart I cannot believe that they do not have valet parking for handicapped patients...that is horrible.

  The problem for me is I took large quantities for a long period of time. I used to be a medical transcription service manager and did some transcription as part of the job, meaning I was beating the keyboard for a long, long time. My hands hurt and I took ibuprofen. I also took it for my knees before I had them replaced. The last go-round, I took it (about 6 a day) for my hands before I had the trigger thumb/finger fixed. My mistake. Hard lesson learned.

I am one of very few people who is allergic to ibuprofen so I have only taken it twice, once when it was prescribed and the in a doctor's office to prove what happened. My throat swelled shut and I could not breathe. It was new and he did not think anyone could be allergic to it.

When will you be having the scope DonnaMarie?

  May 28. I'm looking forward to it so that there will be quantification of whatever damage I've done. Like I told the doctor this morning, if this is chronic, so be it, but I need to know. It's not life threatening nor lifestyle changing; it just is.
  
  Can you take other NSAIDS? They told me to avoid them all.

Try gargling and then swallowing an ounce or two of Noni juice. It is very healing. It does not taste good but it leaves your palate quickly. It is an amazing juice which has been around in Hawaii and Tahiti for centuries. They swear by it's healing powers. It is wonderful for pain and relaxation. I take an ounce every night at bedtime with a magnesium and calcium supplement. I sleep like a baby. Take good care of yourself.

  I've never heard of that. I do drink a wonderful tea that soothes things without adding more damage; it's an herbal cinnamon/apple blend.
