The Dragon Trail?

Posted by OldBones-Larry Sep 30, 2015

I just came out of one of the caves high on the mountain and looked back across the desert of NML. I'm not sure I can trust what I am seeing at the beginning of the trail.

If what I think I see is true, my Great-Grandfather was telling me the truth instead of tall tails.

I am sure I see a dragon beginning the journey across the desert. Is he a Fire-dragon? A mighty weapon against Nic and his bunch if that is true.

I will wait and see.

I am waiting for news from the other side on those that were rescued from the drop at Relapse Rocks. Desolation Point claimed several lately. I am hoping they recover enough to begin their journey again.

Safe journey to all, and beware the traps set by Nic and his crew.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

PS .... The Vascular Surgeon says things look good. Next appointment in 3 months.

No Major Changes

Posted by OldBones-Larry Sep 28, 2015

Just got home from the pulmonologist's and was informed that there have been no major changes in my lungs. Next appointment with them will be in a year. YAY!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is the vascular surgeon's office. I hope the news there will be as good. I would be satisfied if I didn't have to return there for 6 months after tomorrow's visit right now.

I'll see what happens.

Keep those quits going strong folks.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

Just a quick post.

Keeping everyone informed, as asked, about my appointments.

Going to the pulmonologist today. Just a check-up as far as I know.

Tomorrow I see the Vascular Surgeon again. I'm not real sure what will happen there.

They posted the biopsy results to my personal chart page.

Chronic Gastritis, GERD, Hiatal Hernia, and Barrett's.

No Displasia's noted from any of the samples. That is great news. I can work with the other things.

I need to get ready to leave. Keep the good thoughts going please.

The journey continues.......

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

I have known some people that were told about the damage they had, and were doing, to their body with sickorettes. They threw them away and never looked back. They fought back to regain everything they could for their life and themselves.

The Fighters!

I have known others that were told the same thing and continued smoking. They lost limbs to Vascular Disorders, Lungs to Cancer, had major Strokes. Some sit on Oxygen and continue to chain smoke. They have buried their head in the sand and hope everything will go away.

The Ostrich!

I have no doubt about which I want to be and am.

How about you?

Do you know anyone that is an Ostrich?

Any Fighters?

Just a short post to let everyone know I came through the Gastroscopy OK.

He took a lot of biopsies while he was in there. Results in about a week on those.

He did send information on GERD and Barrett's home with me.

The Hiatal Hernia must be staying small as he didn't call major attention to it in the home instructions.

More as I hear about things.

Misc. Things

Posted by OldBones-Larry Sep 21, 2015

First of all. Congratulations to everyone on your great quit!!! Whether it be 1 day, or 10,000 days!!!!

Way to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am doing pretty well here. Not terrific, but not terrible either. I am having the EX-smoker's lung parties every day now.

I have an appt. with the pulmonologist next Monday. Will see what they say about things. No Oxygen tanks yet, but it might be time for one pretty soon.

Next Tuesday it's time to see the Vascular Surgeon again for a check-up. Think of me on both of those days.

At 11 PM tonight, I roll over to 700 days quit. I get to celebrate this milestone by having a Gastroscopy tomorrow. Sounds fun, right???

Just one more reward for becoming a buddy with Ol' Nic.

I'll be fine though because:

That is the main thing. I can deal with all this other stuff because sickorettes don't control my life now.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

This is for all the newbies, and not so newbies, having a rough time with their quit.

Should you snoop around on member's pages?

The short answer is ...... YOU BET YOU SHOULD!!!

I don't know of a single elder here that will object to you snooping in their old blogs. In fact, we encourage you to snoop around in them.

Maybe you will find that one thing that will click and make this quit easier for you and it becomes your forever quit.

Just click on their avatar to get to their page. Under their picture is a link to their past blogs. Read to your hearts content.

I hope you find something to help you kick Nic out of your life for good.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

I had a debate last night with Ol' Nic. He seems to think I am wasting my time quitting the smoking materials.

"Why bother quitting now? Your heart is failing. Your lungs are full of holes and the air sacs are stretched out from smoking so long. You have things growing in and on your lungs. I mean, really!!!! Why bother now?" he threw out to me.

I replied, "I have already given myself the chance to live 72 days longer than I most likely would have. Yes, I do have problems moving air. It is moving though! Yes my heart is damaged and weak. It still pumps my blood though. The longer I am without you in my life, the more days I might extend my life."

He tried several other arguments, and I knocked each of them down with the same ease.

I finally told him the debate was over and walked away. His empty words and threats rolled off my back with no effect at all.

I just kept walking until his voice faded into the silence of nothingness.

Will you win your debate with Nic?

I know you can.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

Smoking Chimp !!!!!!!

Posted by OldBones-Larry Sep 12, 2015

There is a chimp at a zoo in China that is encouraged to smoke for the tourists entertainment.

Please ask China to stop this deplorable practice at the zoo ....

Who would be the best support for someone trying to quit smoking?

Your pastor? Your wife/husband? The butcher? Your best friend from high school?

How about that small person inside you that has been pushed down and trapped by the years of smoking?

They might not be able to give you the memory of not smoking, but they remember the time that you were smoke-free. They are trying to tell you what that life was like.

Will you listen to them before it is too late and you have some sort of major health problem?

I know that I sure wish I had listened to that small voice talking to me.

Give that person free reign to guide you to a life without nicotine and chemicals. They can get you there.

Please let them out of the prison you have put them in. Let them guide you on the journey to a life of freedom from this addiction.

Makes sense to me anyway ....................

One step, and then another. will get you to where you want to be.
