I am sending this down by way of one of Old Goat's helpers.

I woke up a little while ago to the face of my old friend watching me.

The Old Goat said that several of the Sheik's men brought me in several days ago. She had them bring me deep into the Healing Cave somewhere on her mountain.

They told her they found me buried in the sand next to my camel. I was suffering from what they termed Noxious Poisoning. Old Goat says that they mean that Nic's minions poisoned me with Tar, Nicotine, Arsonic, Methane, and many more chemicals.

In her opinion, we must be taking quite a few people away from Nic's slavery to sickorettes.

I had found where they had attacked someone after leading them off the trail. I never found the unfortunate traveller before I was ambushed.

Old Goat says I will recover. She says I must remain here till she says I may leave to be sure the poisons are no longer a danger to me. When I am able to leave, I will continue leading caravans and fighting Ol' Nic wherever I find him and his minions.

I had to send this warning down though. I would ask that someone get a message to the Sheik and advise him what Nic's forces are doing deep in the desert.

Warn every traveler in NML of this new danger. I wish the travelers to be able to travel safely out there.

To My Family Here

Posted by OldBones-Larry Jul 25, 2015

I wanted to come in and let everyone know that I am, and will, be thinking of them even though I can't be in very much for a while.

I am currently undergoing a large number of medical tests to try and figure out what is wrong with me. They are trying to get some other tests scheduled also.

When I know something, I will pass it on.

This journey is like all that have been traveled before though.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you wish to be.

Off The Trail

Posted by OldBones-Larry Jul 14, 2015

Yesterday morning, I noticed some tracks going off and away from the trail. I know I could send a message to the Sheik and he would track them. I would never rest easy not going myself though. The Old Goat would never forgive me if I didn't look myself either.

I have been following the tracks since yesterday morning and so far today. I have seen nothing to make me think they had been kidnapped by Nic and his friends. I think someone just lost their way and wandered off the trail. I will do my best to find them and guide them back. I hope nothing has happened to them. The tracks seem to be getting fresher though.

I think I can see someone far out in the distance. I must be catching up with the wanderer. I brought along a good supply of water in case I needed it.

I am closing my scroll for now to hurry onwards.

May your travels be safe and your trail smooth.

A Cure For Everything?

Posted by OldBones-Larry Jul 10, 2015

I want to step away from the caravan to get something off my mind. Maybe it will also help someone in the process.

Does quitting smoking cure all your illnesses? I think we all know better than that.

I smoked my last cigarette at 11PM 11/21/2013.

On 11/22/2013, I underwent 10 hours of surgery for a triple bypass.

Was I cured?

No, my heart is still weak. My blood pressure is considered low and I can't perfuse my body well.

I had masses in my lungs. Did quitting cure those?

No, they are still there. They aren't growing, but still there. I have scans on a regular basis to keep an eye on them.

I have to have tests on my vascular system to keep a check on it. Is the balloning in my Aorta cured because I quit? No, but maybe it won't get worse.

Is my COPD cured because I quit?

No, but I'm not damaging my lungs with poison anymore. I have to take medications and treatments to ensure my airways are open so I can breath. I have to work every minute to breath.

Am I bitter?

No, I chose to do this to my body because I didn't know better at the time.

I have to take each thing as it develops now.

Your body will heal itself if the damage you have done isn't too severe. It takes time, but your body will heal.

I want to thank each and every person I have met here, especially those that have helped me along my journey. Be well, and keep those quits going strong.

I ask you to please forgive the ramblings of this old caravan master. He might have baked his brain out there in that desert.

I think it is time to mount back up on my camel and get back to work.

While working on the edge of the drop-off at Desolation Point, we received some more supplies. We used a lot of the rope and poles for the repairs. The food and other supplies will be left at the oasis along the way. They will come in very handy. There was a message included with a suggestion that the short lengths of rope might be fashioned into whips to use against Nic and his buddies. I will explore the possibilities of this.

We finished rebuilding at Desolation Point a few hours ago, and I am now traveling on towards Old Goat's mountain. I really feel I need to move quickly and get there as soon as I can.

A few miles back I came upon a traveler leading their camel. They said they thought it had hurt a foot or something. I checked and found a cut that I thought should be cared for. As I had a camel that was not carrying anything, I loaded their stuff on it and took the injured one. I will turn it over to the caretakers at the end of NML to be cared for.

When I get to the mountain, I will begin climbing the trail up towards the top. I feel I need to recover something in one of the caves up there. I will also visit the Dust Cave and refill my bag of Moses Dust.

While I am there, I will check in on The Old Goat and see if she has anything she wishes passed on.

From conversations I have had with some of the bedoins, I have learned that The Old Goat is really very old. Nobody seems to know exactly how old she is. They say their grandfathers met her when they were young boys. With age comes wisdom I guess.

I must close the scroll for today and get back on the trail.

The Sheik and I arrived at Desolation Point this morning. We found the entire rope barricade at the drop-off gone. We were able to rappel down the wall and recover some of the poles. The rope had been cut into 6-inch pieces and thrown to the bottom. We will take all of that rope to the next oasis and prep it as fire tinder.

We immediately began putting up a new barricade. We should have it completed sometime tomorrow. The Sheik has vowed that he will find and punish Nic's minions for this.

I have a strong feeling that I need to get to the cave on Old Goat's mountain. I am not sure why I need to, but the feeling is so strong as to make me think it is urgent.

I return to work now on the poles and rope.

I am nearing Relapse Rocks. Since we have found so many traps that Nic and his gang have been setting all along the trail, I want to check the stakes and ropes that are along the drop-off at Desolation Point. I am always worried that someone might stray from the trail there and fall over the edge.

At one of the Oasis, Nic and his group had destroyed the supplies that were cached there. The Sheik and I re-supplied that Oasis so the travelers would have the supplies they need.

Some of the Sheik's men have reported minor skirmishes with Nic-nasties out in the desert. They beat them easily, so they should not bother the caravan that is crossing behind us in any way.

I receives a message from The Old Goat this morning reminding me to post her motto at every stop along the trail.

This is what she wishes everyone to remember as they travel.

As always, I remind everyone of what I say each and every day of my journey.
