Simple Formula?

Posted by OldBones-Larry Jan 23, 2015

How do you quit smoking? That is the burning question for many current smokers. The best answer I have heard is this ...

Quit! Then commit to your quit!

Easy? H&LL NO !!!!!

Doable? You bet it is.

Read up on nicotine addiction before you even think about quitting. Gather all your aids that you will need. Find a good support group and ask advice anytime you think you need some.

Most of all, take it one day at a time.

Remember, the journey of 10,000 days can only be accomplished by taking one step at a time.

Keep your quit going and ask for help when you need it.

Good journey to everyone that is beginning their quit right now.

One Step, And Then Another, Will Get You To Where You Want To Be.

That Moment .......

Posted by OldBones-Larry Jan 5, 2015

I have been reading through the blogs of the last few days. One asked when something clicked to make you decide to end the romance with sickorettes.

Well, for me it was when a doctor told me I was living on the blood being supplied to my heart from ONE artery.

Right then I knew I was a dead man if I didn't quit those death sticks.

I went through 12 hours of surgery and can say that my cardiac output 14 month later is close to normal. I am still considered to be in cardiac failure, but am doing well.

Now if my lungs were doing as well .........

I am holding my own pretty well, but will never breathe right again. I will have another CT scan in March to see whether the nodules in my lungs have grown or not, and if there has been any more breakdown of tissues.

I could have said to heck with it and continued smoking 440 days ago. Instead, I listened to that small voice that said I would be stupid if I didn't quit. I guess someone was telling me in no uncertain terms that my life was over if I didn't listen.

I bless each person here that supported me on this journey to a smoke-free life.

Always remember....

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.
