Onwards through NML

Posted by OldBones-Larry Nov 30, 2013

Well, now working on day 39. Been having some urges the last day or so, but  have beat every one of them. I want to send wishes that everyone out there has the strength and willpower to resist the urges and cravings this holiday season. One day at a time and we will all get there. Great Spirit bless you all.

About to start  day 35 of this journey through the desert of NML. I sometimes feel so alone out here on this journey. Then someone will send a message and remind me that none of us is really alone out here.

We are all addicts to this drug we call nicotine. As with any drug, I feel that I must always be on guard against relapsing. We can overcome this addiction if we support each other. I find it amazing how many ways a person can think of to distract themselves from the urge to light one. I look at all those out there that have made it 1 year or longer and know that if I remain strong I can join them.

Am I  wrong in this way of thinking? Please let me know your thoughts on this.

I will continue singing to Great Spirit to give us strength for the journey so we can come out the other side of this desert stronger.

Great Spirit guide us on this journey and keep us on the correct path.

Next day in the journey

Well. this makes 34 days quit. I'm so glad I have so many friends out here in NML supporting me. Just shooting down the urges one by one feels so good. I have learned those urges will always be with me, but I can overcome them. It's snowing here today, so I can't get out to walk them off. I don't need another case of pneumonia so soon after the bypass. Send me strength guys, I need it today.

Journey through NML

What a grerat adventure. 33 days and going. Feeling great and not having pain from the surgery site. Still a bit numb there though. The urges to light up are getting fewer it seems. Please keep the encouragement coming. I CAN do this.

33 days and counting

It's been 33 days and today was really good. A lot less pain from my surgery site and not so many urges to light one. I'm finding lots of things to distract myself with. One day at a time in NML. What a great journey we have embarked on.

Quit after 42 years

Well, it took a triple bypass, but I did finally quit. That was Oct. 22, 2013. The worst part right now is the Nicotine cravings. I'm using hard candies to help with those.
