Day Three

It's not quite day three yet, but after about 11:20, I'll be into my third day. I'm feeling really good! My coughing has gotten a lot better, and I have no desire to go out and buy more cigarettes. I had a great day with family yesterday, and I was really paying attention to how they all looked, enjoying themselves and the day without having to smoke. I thought, "I can be that way too!" and for most of the day, I think I was. Cravings really weren't that bad at all.

This feels really attainable now. I know that I messed up before, and honestly, I'm grateful to have been given a second chance. Or, a third, fourth or fifth chance. There is this little voice in the back of my mind saying, "See how easy this is? It would be this easy, even if you quit smoking a year from now, or five years from now. You don't really have to stop now if you don't want to. You can keep smoking, and enjoy it while you're still young, and then quit when you're older."

It's really amazing how the nicodemon lies. What's even more amazing is that I spent a long time listening to those lies, believing they were true. While the voice is still there, it's getting smaller and smaller. I'm getting ready to spend an awesome day with some friends after we go to church, and I can't wait!

Smoke free! Onward to victory!
