Sometimes

Posted by jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007 Aug 29, 2020

Sometimes we are forced to do things we should've already done. I went into the garage yesterday morning and my freezer door was open.

OUCH!

Everything in the door had gone soft and the condition was spreading.

I didn't have the energy to go under the house and get the ice chests to load things in and defrost at that time. The sun was already up.

Anyone who knows me knows I don't mess around when I must get things done.

I made a plan for this morning. I did go get the ice chests so they were out and ready for this morning.

At 5am I opened the garage door and got my hand truck. I unloaded everything into the ice chests and a couple boxes and rolled the freezer outside.

My way to defrost is to open the freezer door and melt all the ice with the garden hose. Takes less than 5 minutes. I wiped it out with a towel, rolled it back into position, turned it on, and, reloaded it.

What I should've done but hadn't was to check for freezer burn so this was the time to examine and throw everything that I would no longer cook, AND I DID.

Compare this to quitting. You know you should've quit long ago but you've put it off.

Now is your time to quit and get rid of the dead wood before a smoking related medical issue taps you on the shoulder.

Do it! We'll help you every step of the way!

"You can tell a lot from a litter box

and it's more intense to a smoker-not."

Some of you already heard Hoggie lost a third of his weight in 6 months.

After a lot of money for testing, they still couldn't find the cause

of his symptoms. They think it's a digestive disease or cancer but cannot tell me more without $800 of x-rays and ultrasound. I can't afford surgeries for cancer when it might only give him a short time longer. I thought it was pancreatic insufficiency because he had every symptom listed so the last tests were for that but they came out normal as well as the B-12 levels so, nope on that.

He's eating about 5 cans of food a day now where he used to eat 2.

Here's what I am doing which I believe gives true observations as to what is going on. I'm scooping his litter every day and checking poop formation. When he was very ill looking he had a lot of diarrhea and it was overly foul.

Now they look normal. I'm also taking him in for a steroid injection every 4 weeks to control inflammation in his digestive system.

Be prepared to smell better and worse smells after you've quit.

Litter and cigarettes,

Keep Them Away From Your Face

Sure they do.

If you're experiencing an emotional win, it always feels better than a loss.

Here's the gift. THINGS DO NOT STAY THE SAME.

Do not depend on circumstances for your happiness.

You can be a happy person knowing things will change.

When you're at the bottom, the only way is up. When you're the happiest, the only way is down, but, why live for extremes?

Make the effort to live on an even keel knowing life is constantly changing and you can be happy. It's inside you. Let it happen!

People quitting smoking often tend to believe something is going to happen that is going to make them smoke.

Focus on unlearning the connections.

Every time you catch yourself realizing you would have smoked but didn't is a win.

Winning is unlearning the connections to smoking.

Grab those wins. Put those on the tally board instead of those fears and dread.

They'll add up quickly.

Hurricane Laura seems to have taken it easy on Galveston. It's on land in Louisiana.

Changes of season often affect a quitter due to the memories we've connected to them.

Whether it be family gatherings on holidays or just a hot day, smoking connections are brought forward in our minds.

Be aware!

Don't fall for the connection.

Wade on through them!

I watched them demolish a 3 story 150 Room Hotel last Summer on this cam.

Then the snows came (This camera has the perfect view when it's snowing)

Then they shut down the link for 4 or more months

I know they're building a $50 Million All Season Aquatic Centre.

I thought they would have started it in the Spring but they just started 10 days ago.

First snow comes the last week in September.

I'm getting anxious for them.

They have a big crane lifting steel sections, I'm guessing 4' wide and 16-20 feet high.

They stand 3 at a time and then they lay them down and move down the line.

I'm mystified. WTH???

I never saw them dig or pour a footing.

AM I GOING CRAZY?

OOOOHH!

I just saw the design

New Downtown Pool

 _______________________________________________________________

Well, the crane and most all the heavy equipment is gone.

I watched them take down the crane and load it on trucks and haul it away.

See those 3 vertical steel panels in the picture above? I still don't know why they did that

but, I watched a specialized skip loader that tripped around with a vertical 20 foot long attachment (4 times its height)  that appeared to make a 20 foot deep hole about every 4 feet and then a worker would drop a long object into each hole. I don't know what they were but they couldn't have been too heavy because one man handled them easily and if they were heavy, you would have seen it in the way he braced his back while lowering them into the holes.

So now, see the red lines within the project area parallel to both streets below? They're some kind of steel form. I believe I saw some welding late one afternoon. In the back and on the right they dug a standard footing and have formed it with wood.

Here's my guess.

They are likely  going to use those two runs as a ground level moment frame in case the earth ever shifts drastically while people are inside using the facilities so the building can't twist/rack down with them inside. If this were a one story building, it wouldn't be such a problem but with a higher, open space building, the earths movement can force  a whipping action to the top of the structure and bring the whole roof system down.

You have less chance of smoking causing you to be hit by a train

Life Gits Tee- Jus Don't It by Walter Brennan - YouTube

The sun comes up and the sun goes down
The hands on the clock keep a-goin' 'round
I just get up and it's time to lay down
Life gets tee-jus, don't it, hmm

My shoes untied but I don't care
I ain't a-figurin' on goin' nowhere
I'd have to wash and comb my hair
And that's just wasted effort

The water in the well just gettin' lower and lower
Can't take a bath at six months more
But I've heared it said and it's true, I'm sure
That to much bathin' will weaken ya

I opened the door an' the fly's swarm in
Closed the door and I'm sweatin' again
And in the process I crack my shin
Just one darn thing after another

Old brown mule he must be sick
I jabbed him in the rump with a pin on a stick
He humped his back but he wouldn't kick
Now there's something ****-eyed somewhere

A mouse a-chewin' on the pantry door
He's been at it fer a month or more
When he gets through he'd sure be sore
'Cause there ain't a darned thing in there

This is one of the most fascinating stories you will ever see.

Be forewarned. It is intense but it is the truth.

He had put safeguards in place but they lied to him.

                        "A GOOD AMERICAN!"

Was it the void of disappointment?

The void of failure?

The void of anger?

The void of anxiety?

The void of fear?

Did the rush of nicotine fix all the voids?

Did it solve your problems or was it a mirage you allowed yourself to believe?

You don't need smoking to fill those voids.

You can let it go

Follow These Rules And You Will Never Look Back In Life With Regrets

"You are responsible for your life, for your feelings, for your actions, and for every result you get.

You are in control of your thoughts. You have the ability to stop thinking about something and to start thinking about something else.

Once you take personal responsibility for your life and actions, you will begin to improve your ability to respond to external factors you may not have control over."

LETTING GO OF SMOKING IS UNLEARNING THE CONNECTIONS TO IT.

IS IT ANY WONDER A QUIT IS MORE COMFORTABLE AT TWO YEARS?

And, don't put the fart before the horse

I believe knowing innately how to make something work is a gift.

If my printer is too deep for the shelf, I add depth to the shelf the width of the printer.

knowing how to make something work isn't enough.

You have to be able to do it yourself according to the solution you decided upon

                                                               OR

You must be able to explain it to someone else so they know how to do it.

So, that applies to a task but, what about things like emotions?

I took Hoggie to the vet today and when I called them on the phone to pay, I couldn't find the credit card I use for everything. It was nowhere to be found. So, I try the backup card I got for just this situation. It was declined. I was able to use my debit card. That situation, over.

Now, what about the missing card. Your mind starts searching for where you physically used it last. You call the store. No luck.

You're about to call the card issuer to tell them you've lost your card, then, you remember you had it in your hands when you left the store with the bag of groceries, two bags of hot fried chicken and the receipt in your hand.

It was between the seat of my truck.

NO PANIC

NO CIGARETTES

NO NEED

You are going to have these unexpected experiences during your quit.

Don't panic.

Use your head to think instead.

Breathwork

Posted by jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007 Aug 13, 2020

I take Hoggie outside a few times a day.

He makes his familiar circles, stopping, sniffing seeing things out of the corner of his eye.       He'll run half way up the persimmon tree and hang there, making sure I see him, before he jumps down

Sometimes I have something I need to do outside like bring the trashcans in or go water the lantana.

I have the irrigation turned off temporarily so I have to water manually for awhile.

When I get back to the backyard, Hoggie is often nowhere in sight.

He loves hiding under the low lying pomegranate tree. Lots of shade and sometimes he'll find a rabbit under there to chase across the back forty.

Mt foot was hurting me from making a lot of trips to my truck with shelf parts to run to my dads and unload yesterday so I was sitting and enjoying the afternoon breeze. We live on the top of a hill so 95% of the time there is a nice breeze blowing in the afternoon.

When we've been out longer than normal, I clap twice and he knows it's time to head back but, more often then not he sets his own time and I wait until he saunters in.

If I have something I need to do after about 5 sets of claps, and no sight of him, I get the hose and arc it right onto that tree about 35 feet away.

THAT BRINGS HIM OUT!

If you're having the worst dang crave, and, just can't shake it,

"Turn the hose on it!"

Bite into a lemon, SKIN AND ALL!

You'll never forget it and will likely not have to do it again!

That memory will be your crave shutoff switch.

"Try it first before you smoke."

Comes with a bite mark guarantee!

There are new concerns over wearing masks for long periods

Dentists are now saying that wearing masks can dry out your mouth and cause your gums to recede and also create the perfect storm for cavities.

Other Dr's are saying you don't get enough Oxygen because you are rebreathing a good percentage of your exhaled Carbon Dioxide.

Be aware, don't overwear

and don't smoke

You'll light your dam mask on fire

I only wear a mask when I go shopping and, no more than 10 or 15 minutes.

Went out for a drive with my Dad today.

This Is How Your Brain Becomes Addicted to Caffeine

I have one cup 30 minutes after I have my acid pill and Hoggie won't let me stay in bed any longer!

I use half and half in that ratio so no coffee before a colonoscopy.

      Do I feel groggy?

Well how the heck else would I feel after two four hour rounds on the commode and general anesthesia?

Do you overdo on the caffeine?

You can't smoke after an extraction or even use a straw.

You can bleed and have pain,

But, no HaHaHaHaHa.

TOO MUCH FUN IS NONE!

I don't know why but it fascinates me and is a GREAT distraction

I've put up the Flagstaff live link numerous times.

100-120 trains pass through Flagstaff EVERY DAY.

Flagstaff, Arizona - Virtual Railfan LIVE - YouTube

Yesterday I found a rail yard where they add cars and build freight trains.

They use a smaller engine called a "switcher" to do it. There's also a guy on a small ATV who runs ahead and behind the switcher physically switching the tracks for the switcher so it can add or remove cars. Quite a process.

Check it out if you're interested. Here's the link.
