dear admin

Posted by jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007 Jul 31, 2012

if you can't get a handle on one chinaman who clogs this place with spam every chance he gets and has been doing so for years?

1. you aren't doing your job.

2. someone is needed to do your job.

3. i'm going to find a different site to invest my time in.

Instead of worrying about who controls the spam, someone ought to be taking care of it.

there is a nuts and bolts to quitting.

it is a process.

i know many new people think it has to be an individual "suffering thing"

but we were brainwashed

it doesn't have to be that.

yes there is a letting go. you will miss it because you did it for a long time but

it isn't gonna kill you to stop smoking.  it's gonna kill you to keep going.

ok, show of hands of all those who want to wallow in misery?

ok, now all those who want to step around it?

please go read the link on my page just below the badgefitti called "what to expect in the first 4 months"

it's your roadmap. its the things we all experience in pretty much chronological order.

The only thing you need is the belief you can do it.

can you do it? will you do it?

the first 2 pictures are the top gun bungalow

all questions will be answered at the end of the presentation.

It's in horrible shape right now

they are going to restore it in the future as a tourist attraction.

And would you pour that all over my hot dog?

she asked me to check on her if i didn't see her here for over 2 days.

i've texted her twice today and not heard back

and won't care at all!

what good am I doing?

there are plenty of cheerleaders here.

i don't want you going down the wrong thought path and wasting your time, and getting frustrated or giving up.

i read what you say and i try to decipher your background thinking before i respond.

that's the best i can do in 2D. but my heart is in the right place.

had a great time... the party was mainly outside because there were alot of people. not over 150 or 200,  i don't think.

It was all musicians and their wives and girlfriends and kids.

there were 4 bands on ahead of us.

the host asked for the name of the group to announce us and i told him to introduce us as "Wrecked Right Foot"

i gotta tell you, climbing the 2 block hill that was straight up with all my gear afterwards pretty much wrecked it for the night. I have no right ankle or motion in my right foot so climbing up a hill is about the worst torture you can imagine

our music was so different from all the other music being played there that everyone actually stopped to listen.

It was a hoot.

lots of smokers, self designated to the street. so, no temptation whatsoever.

lots of beer and food. No visible drugs or hard liquor.

Two cop cars were sitting down the hill in sight, waiting to serve a $700 ticket if it got too loud.

our sound man had his own sound level pressure meter going so they couldn't legally fine us or shut us down.

what a blast!

Don't Drink Yourself Out Of Your Quit!

Alcohol is the BIGGEST QUIT KILLER there is!

We can do better than that!

Believe in yourself

Knuckle down, buckle down,

do it!

do it!

do it!

tomorrow i'm going into the midst of a large group of strangers and introduce my music to this area after being gone for 45 years. This will be the public debut of the band to date.

it is a big party for musicians and you can bet they all won't be non smokers.

what will i do?

well i'll have some good fun dangit!

stay tuned

tacos for me

you call that a diet?  LOL

no curly fries for you again dale....EVER!!!!

"yes mister diet"

Yes I made some this morning along with a one layer baklava. (less rich)

We're already where you want to be.

We know exactly what turns to make to get here.

Read, learn, ask questions.

We know what you are feeling.

Don't leave home without us!

How far do you think your quit is going to go?

You cannot dwell on doubt.

Can't wish smoking away.

It's going to take committment

and 130 days.

We can help get your head in the right place and tell you what you can expect and when you can relax somewhat.

Listen, follow directions and, ask questions.

The circle of addiction....

My very good friend from the first quit smoking site i was on quit a few months after i did.

About 5-6 months ago, she moved in with an old (smoking) friend.  Evidently the wine just didn't taste as good without a cigarette...(yes she trashed a nearly 5 year quit)

a few months after my friend moved in, .... her old smoking friend had one of her legs amputated because sores on her feet would not heal. the doctors attributed it to bad circulation. (most probably due to her chain smoking for 40 years) Smoking depletes healing oxygen from your bloodstream and replaces it with carbon monoxide. (poison)

so...i'm talking to my friend tonight and telling her if she isn't able to quit before her friend moves home, she will be the enabler this time and the next thing to go will be her friends other leg.

then what?

PS her friend has 90 days smokefree but asked my friend 2 days ago if she was still smoking then. said "gimmee some"

A little railroad engine was employed about a station yard for such work as it was built for, pulling a few cars on and off the switches. One morning it was waiting for the next call when a long train of freight-cars asked a large engine in the roundhouse to take it over the hill. "I can't; that is too much a pull for me," said the great engine built for hard work. Then the train asked another engine, and another, only to hear excuses and be refused. In desperation, the train asked the little switch engine to draw it up the grade and down on the other side. "I think I can," puffed the little locomotive, and put itself in front of the great heavy train. As it went on the little engine kept bravely puffing faster and faster, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can."

As it neared the top of the grade, which had so discouraged the larger engines, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could, I thought I could."

If you ask any successful ex-smoker who has quit for a year or more how much of their success they attribute to luck, would you be surprised to know that luck played zero percent?

Luck is chance. It can go either way. It's out of your control.

Is that what you would base your quit upon?

If so, you may as well flip a coin and then do what you want anyway.

You Control This! You Don't Let It Control You. That's How It Works!

I wish you determination and success, no luck involved.

some people think substituting nrt's is going to take care of all their desire to smoke and make them a non smoker.

it doesn't happen that way.

Nrt's should be used as a tool to take the edge off while you unlearn the daily habits and memories that drive your smoking.

the addiction part is easier to break than than habit part. you can take nrts till you're blue in the face but that will not unlearn the memories of smoking

SO, again, use the nrts to take the edge off while you unlearn the habit parts of smoking. Focus on that, then, step off the nrts as soon as you feel comfortable.

Please allow yourself 130 days from your last puff to be free of dwelling on smoking even it rarely crossing your mind. Do not give up before you give yourself a fair chance

I believe most will experience it just one side or the other of 130 days.

You will realize when it happens. You may reach for a ghost pack laugh, and think," I don't miss smoking at all."

I challenge you to go 130 days from your last puff and see.

this was the one thing i couldn't step around while i was quitting. the one thing i worried might defeat me.

By smoking, we sensitized them to nicotine. A non smoker doesn't have nicotine sensitized receptors. Because they are sensitized to nicotine and release dopamine when stimulated, we want more nicotine to get more dopamine

When we quit smoking they die off over the course of about a year and are replaced by normal ones that have never been exposed to nicotine.

It's been over 5 1/2 years since i quit. Until I learned this at about 6 months into my quit, I was worried it might be impossible to quit because those little buggers would always be craving nicotine and that was one thing that could put my quit out of my control.

Dopamine Stimulator Replacements

Exercise, Chocolate, Food, Sex, Music, Sports

i hope this allays any apprehension you might have on these sabotaging how you see your quit.

we are in control, it just takes some time.

I have $40,000 in bills from my 3 day hospital stay.

My daily meds for three days in the hospital were 33% more than I pay for a whole year?

You can go to any chain pharmacy and buy 300 baby aspirin for $10. They charge $15 each?

$4255 a day just for the room?  It wasn't even a good vacation.

Somethings rotten in Denmark.

(Just wait until they try to get it. LOL)

Have it in a different place than you did when you smoked and it may be no problem!

You don't have to give up everything. You just need to break up the routine to remind yourself you don't smoke anymore.

What Causes Addiction?

Hardwiring in our brains?

Don't we choose to do the things we do?

Do we learn from the bad things or do we just "let them keep happening?"

Seems like an addict is one who knows everything but doesn't learn anything.

That's the only thing any of us have control over.

You gave it to tobacco for too many years and now you are taking it back.

Don't give it away.

I was supposed to rehearse today but something came up for one of the musicians so we put it off until tomorrow. One of those three hour rehearsals feels like I ran a marathon.  I realize its not the same but when I sing and play, I use every muscle in my body. It's quite a different workout.

So, I decided to ride my bike. (I don't have a right ankle so it's hard for me to run or even walk far.)

I haven't ridden since before I was in the hospital the 1st of June because of the triple dose of blood pressure meds they inadvertently put me on after the hospital and I now realize I won't be able to hold my head on my shoulders much longer without some form of exercise. LOL.

So I rode to the park and and went around it three full times. It was steady, no slacking ride and it's a fairly big park.

Worked up a sweat. Now I'll have to keep increasing my trips around it until I feel I can ride to the beach from here.

This is going to require a lot more showers. A lot more.

Not going to smoke over it.

ps there's a link on my page to videos of our rehearsal last week if you feel the need to watch. LOL

follow the link and choose videos on the left.

This is not a money making link. Just three guys learning to play my songs.

One of the user names posted 10 blogs in a row and now has the "master blogger's" badge.

This is why i love the badge system

And is there anyone here to delete it?  NO.

the sooner we can make sure you aren't going the wrong direction and help guide you back to solid footing if need be.

why keep going in circles and getting the wrong result?

this is a battle with yourself. actually, it's a deadly game.

let us help you

A nobake cheese cake if its too hot to bake.

I just made two pans of cheese enchiladas

and the fact that you take up space on a quit smoking site to advertise your crap is a disgrace to your ancestors and yourself.

the love of living is the better choice.

It is a choice you know?

It's called the   "Slip Not-Pin 6"

It allows the operator to pin down up to 6 potential "slip-ee's" at one time and prevent them from going for their nicotine fix.

Just another tool in our quest to keep you quit!.

Please let me know if I chose the right color.

I absolutely love stewed rhubarb well chilled.

The tart and sweet is such a treat!

(Really good over those little dessert cups you get at the store too)

Get 4 stalks of rhubarb. Wash Then Cut Into 1" pieces. Put into 1 1/2 quart pyrex dish with 1/2 cup-1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Nuke for 4 minutes. Stir. Nuke for another 2-4 minutes. Let cool to room temperature. Cool in Fridge another 2 hours.

Taking Control = Being Responsible For The Decision You Made

Let it go!

Quitting is harder if that's what you think it's going to be.

This is truly a game and it's you against you.

Get on your side instead of fighting yourself.

Stop overthinking what could happen.

Take it as it comes.

Craves normally last no more than a minute.

Distract yourself.

It only takes seconds to put your left shoe on your right foot.

Or bite into a lemon

Or stick your head in the freezer and breathe in that cold air.

**Seems people are having trouble playing youtube videos lately

If you are having trouble watching youtube videos there are a couple things you might try.

I believe the problem is an adobe flash player update.

1. go to someones youtube channel and right click on the video screen. there will be an option for settings. See the 5 little icons across the bottom of the flash player adjustment window.

Go to the one on the left and uncheck the box that says "enable hardware acceleration".

2. you may have to go to programs and uninstall adobe flash completely to install the latest version properly.

we could go all day every day to the beach as 10 year old kids without adults and never worry about anything weird happening. takes time to find your new normal.  give it 130 days

I told them their name reminded me of freezer burn and I would not buy their products.

they just responded..     said they forwarded my comments to their marketing department.

the fountainhead, the razor's edge (the old one), the old man and the sea.

Describe something that sets you apart in two words

"i have the ______   _____ in the whole world.

thank you for noticing!"

Will wearing your underwear backwards remind you you've quit?

SURE it will.

It's no different that wearing your right shoe on your left foot!

Bite into a lemon, skin and all!

Open that freezer door and inhale that cold air. "Shocking"

Distract all smoking thoughts and step around them.

and be happy you did!

"you can't change anything until you change your mind"~carp

there is a time limit that if you don't post it within and you try to then post it, IT'S GONE.

write it in your word processing program and then right click in the body of the blog where you would normally type and paste it from your computer.

evidently the protection from a domain name server "dns" changing virus is being removed on July 9.

you need to check your computer before then to know if you are affected or you may not be able to get online.

don't you just love the internet?

hackers and spammers really smell

hackers and spammers go to ****

You don't have to want to do it

You do have to choose to do it.

If you don't believe you can do it, You won't.

The belief you can do it is proven to yourself each day you don't smoke.

When you stop believing? So goes your quit!

We are here to prove it can be done and show you the way.

Your Mama

Whether it's cloudy or grey

Someone unfriending you on facebook

Having a flat tire

Losing your job

Being frustrated

Bad luck

You were just looking for an excuse.

A holiday party is no excuse to smoke.

you have a committment to yourself to not smoke, right?

Every Day You Don't Smoke PROVES YOU CAN !!

that's how you "grow your quit"

one day at a time

I have a general contractors license.(although I am now retired)

In order to get a job as a contractor, you have to do a bid. You don't try to do a bid. You  "do" a bid. If it is not as accurate as you can possibly make it, you can get caught with your pants down when it is time to be paid.

There were some projects during my career where I was bidding 25 trades in addition to the demolition and the carpentry work. This was before the internet and you had to physically run the plans to the sub contractors.

I would do the materials takeoff for all the carpentry work, figure the number of dumpsters, even estimate how much time and distance it would take to carry the materials on to the jobsite to the location where they would be used. I found that a good formula to determine the labor costs was determining the cost of the materials as the materials were generally 40% of the cost of the work.

Many of my "free" bids would take 100-150 hours.

The addenda to my contracts were written very specifically based upon this time spent so if there was a future difference of opinion, there was a written description for every item of work signed and attached to the contract.documents.

Clients don't want you to "TRY". they want a committment.

Are you prepared to committ to your quit? Trying won't cut it!

Learn what you are up against.  Resolve as many of the possible problems before you get started so you know what to expect and aren't blindsided.

there's a link near the top of my page called "what to expect in the first 4 months" you would be wise to read it.

it's these little 3.5 oz jello cups you can get at the store 5/$1.

It gives you something to chew and because it's semi solid, it fools your mind to a point of thinking you actually had "something." LOL.
