I hain't seen her around?

quitting screws with your blood sugar levels for at least the first month

quitting screws with your digestion and can make you constipated the first month

quitting gives you an oxygen high for the first month.

also, outside light seems brighter the first month.

you have to keep your blood sugar balanced and unless you exercise, you have to cut back 200 calories per day to adjust for not smoking.

i suggest mixing cranberry juice without added sugars 1 part juice to 3 parts water to balance your blood sugars and not pack on the weight.

The first professional group I was in and touring with out of high school was the Young Americans.

They are still around

Anyway, they began in 1962 and this year is the 50 year Anniversary so they are having a 50 year reunion at their current college campus April 13, 14, 15.

Well, someone asked me if I had any pictures of the people in my era who have passed away to make a memorium presentation.

I spent all day finding my young americans memoribilia and photos and removing them from their albums, scanning them, cropping them and labeling them.

They were finishing up a movie for Columbia pictures when I joined the group. I declined to get involved because I was still in high school full time and it was over 100 miles each way.

The movie won the Academy Award for best documentary that year but was disquaified because someone found out there had been a preview someplace in the south a week before it was allowed.

The first link is 8 x10 movie stills.

The second link is some of my touring with them.

WOW - totally awesome - talk about perspective
> You're going to want to spend some time with this...
> This is very interesting – zooming from the smallest molecule to the > vast universe!
> Use the scroll bar at the bottom to zoom to the smallest and largest.
> Move the ball SLOWLY to the left or to the right (and pause frequently) > so you have time to see everything

I get as frustrated for them as they must be with themselves

There is no magic to quitting smoking.

You have to keep them away from your face.

The best way to do this is to not have any around

You must make your quit your own, independent of your smoking spouse

or life's circumstances.

   Pretty Cool

Don't ask me! I don't know how it's done!!

Read out loud the text inside the triangle below.

More than likely you said, 'A bird in the bush,'! and...
If this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see
that the word THE is repeated twice!
Sorry, look again.

You may not see it at first, but the white spaces read the word optical,
the blue landscape reads the word illusion.
Look again!
Can you see why this painting is called an optical illusion?

What do you see here?

This one is quite tricky!
The word TEACH reflects as LEARN.

What do you see?

You probably read the word ME in brown, but...
when you look through ME you will see YOU !

Do you need to look again?
Test Your Brain

This is really cool.
The second one is amazing so please read all the way though.

Count every '
F ' in the following text:

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.
Really, go back and try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.

The brain cannot process 'OF'.

Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!
Anyone who counts all 6 'F's' on the first go is a genius!

Three is normal, four is quite rare.

Send this to your friends. It will drive them crazy...
and keep them occupied for several minutes!

Look at the spinning woman and if she is turning right, your right side of your brain is working.
If she is turning left, your left side of your brain is working.
If she turns both ways for you, then you have a 160 or better IQ.

Since I moved, I realized how much stuff I have that I don't need any longer and don't have room for.

I had an old speaker. Huge and heavy and awkward and a certain brand.

(a friend gave it to me in 1978)

So i listed it for $1400 (high expectations) The reason was I saw just the speaker with no cabinet listed for $1200 alone and another auction for just the cabinets with no speakers for $1100 each. No Bites

Well I played around with it for 3 months or more lowering the price until I got it down to $450.

Still? No bites.

Well you'd think the smart thing would've been to keep lowering the price

until it sold but instead, I put the price back up to $750 and it sold right away..

If I had given in and kept lowering the price I would have screwed myself out of who knows how much?

It's the same with your quit.

Misty and I were talking last night and I told her I feel disconnected from cigarettes and smoking.

She said she felt the same way.

I don't know if its the time spent here or just that so much time has passed since we smoked.

It is the perfect place to be for me because I can be of help here and have zero temptation!

Let's all get there shall we?

On another note

I played for 4 hours with a bass player and a drummer yesterday and we recorded the whole thing on video so now I get to go back and edit out the best copy of each song and we can then study it individually and decide what we will each change in our playing style for each song.

This will save an incredible amount of rehearsal time. I write up all the words with the chord changes

above them and that saved us all the time of me blindly trying to teach people original songs with no clue. the video is the next timesaver step

We are learning 22 of my songs to start. We've played together 6 times and it is really starting to tighten up

Have a great day everyone and no smokey!

If  thoughts of smoking start growing DO NOT WAIT!!!

COME HERE and post HELP!

I was reading someones blog from last night where they said that all their friends were smokers.

It's true with any drug,  Marijauna, Cocaine, all the recreational drugs.

People decide on a drug and begin to spend their time exclusively with people who do their drug.

The thing they don't see is that the only common denominator is the drug.

And, the only way to break free of the addiction is to stop hanging out with those people.

Is the future of tobacco smoking going to be hookah parlors with lookouts at the doors?

I'm glad to be free of it.

A. You must kill every smoker within a mile so you can't Bum one?

B. You must drain your car of gas and push it uphill alone  if you REALLY WANT ONE!!

C. You never let your hands get dry so you can't get one to light.?

D. You talk your lighter off the ledge and explain it is now only for birthdays and barbques?

E. Your kids keep the car keys and drive you crazy?

F. All Of The Above?

We aren't here to watch you fail

your success is ours

I wrote this for a friend last night who got lost after a life event and began smoking again

Your life event may be different but  you will always find an excuse to smoke until you wont.

(Your Name Here)

I just saw your blog of 7 months ago. I remember that late night call  when your mom passed. you were driving and had to pull over and talk with someone.

You were so lost you chose to smoke again. And you haven't been able to quit since.
It's a hard transition back to life when the loss of someone becomes greater in meaning  than you'd ever considered it would. You didn't see it coming and it hit you like a train.

(Your Name Here)

You can't outlive cigarettes. But, you could Outrun them if you chose to get back in the game.

(Your Name Here)

I'd really hate to see you dying in a bed from smoking the life out of yourself.

you need to hear whats going on with jojo. that would show you where you are heading.

I've texted you a couple times and your replies have been cryptic
(Your Name Here)

We can't do this for you but it would be an honor to help save you

a. To the Bathroom

b. To Church on Monday (unless your religion calls for it)

c. To spy on your neighbor.

d, TO SMOKE>>> you quit remember?

1. makes YOU wish you never smoked

2. plays with your bowels and your consonuts

3. makes you loony as a bin

4. makes you high from all the extra oxygen for about a month.

5. makes you cranky when you crave (go hide in yer cave)

6. makes you try to clear your throat when you have nothing to say

7. will be the best thing you've ever done

is the answer 1, 2, and 6?

2, 4 and 5?

8, 9 and 10?

all of the above?

How you do it may affect your success or failure.

My opinion is that you are setting yourself up for failure that way.

Because somewhere during this "plan", you are going to want to smoke more than you want

to hold yourself to that daily allowance.

And, this will cause most of you to fail before you get out of the gate. That puts a negative spin

on quitting because you put your self in the "denying myself, I can't do this" thinking.

My suggestion is simply to tell yourself to wait a little longer for that next smoke.

This gets your head in quitting mode without putting any pressure on yourself.

Pressure equals probable failure in this instance.

If you learn about your smoking habit while you are still smoking, you have an advantage

when you actually do quit.

I spent 4 weeks doing exactly what I just said before I quit. I never denied myself,

One more thing, when you get diown to a handful (5) cigarettes a day or so, you may be

putting yourself into a state of continual withdrawal. This is not a good place to be for long.

dale (5+ years quit after 40 years smoking)

Bad ones were the one thing that used to make computers slow to nothing.

Of course it didn't help that no one deleted programs properly.

So now what's slowing your computer down?

Shockwave flash is the killer for me. It wants to update constantly but it won't take the update.

Then, it crashes the browser every chance it gets.

What's your computer gripe?

Then sue the hotel for 3k because you gained 7 lbs that week.

She lost her case.

I wasn't invited to the funeral.

Mr Brown was invited to sit in the family section and told he could bring two guests.

He brought 9 (NINE) people and plopped his entourage down before the family was even up the stairs and seated.

He was discovered and told he and two guests could remain but the other 7 would have to be reseated elsewhere.

Rather than accept that and the fact that he had overstepped his bounds, he left like a BIG BABY.

Mr Brown, you should win the A-HOLE of the year award. You Got My Vote!

They put a small needle with a hoop in one ear and cover it with surgical tape and one in the other

they are inserted into nerve endings. Your ears have hundreds as do the soles of your feet and

every one is related to a different part of your body. (this practice is 5000 years old people)

One ears point  is for actual appetite. the other is for stress.

If you feel the desire to eat, you stimulate them gently with your finger tips.

the urge goes away.

You go in once or twice a week to have them checked.

I lost 30 pounds in a month.

Insurance may pay for it, I am not sure

but it worked for me when I did it.

takes a minute to load

This could take affect in as early as 120 days and would involve evictions of smokers.

They are calling smoking an aggravated nuisance.

AFTER 5 Years helping on this and another site I feel I must give you the following TRUTH

Most quits fail after the first month and during those next three months.

Why?  The newness and energy of quitting have worn off after that first month of hard work.

You are tired of working at quitting.

The good news is, you don't have to work so hard BUT you must be wary of surprise

desires and cravings that seem to come from nowhere.

The next 3 months is the time you MUST BE ON GUARD!

This is a process people. I have watched it thousands of times.

Be On Guard!

She is such an example of waiting too long to stop smoking and I have felt so blessed to know her and all

of you who suffer with COPD.

I started a very powerful song about jojo late last night.

I haven't written the music yet although I hear the meter of what the melody will be.

I have about 60%-70% of the words done..

I will post more when it has developed a little further

Funny Thing:

The older you get, the less INVINCIBLE you feel.

I went to a memorial service yesterday for someone I had not seen in 54 years.

That'll take the wind out of your sails.

Before I left to go I thought "Gee you're going to feel so old there"

But I took the rare anxiety pill and

It really was wonderful to see so many old friends.

What makes you think you NEED to smoke when you are awake?

If you have never tried to quit before and you want some personal help to do this one time, put a message on my page.

it's a mindless thing.

And they die one puff at a time, they just don't know it yet.

By Amanda Greene

Between enticing eats the grocery store checkout line and coworkers' birthday treats at work, it seems as if we're bombarded with temptations every time we step out the door. But did you know that many reasons those stubborn pounds won't budge may actually be inside your own home? Whether the type of plates you use is causing you to eat more than you realize or your bedroom isn't letting you catch enough zzz's, learn how your house may be sabotaging your weight-loss plans.

Your serving plates are too large.

Those oversize restaurant-style plates make a dramatic statement on your dining table, but have you ever considered the effect they have on your waistline? "The size of your plate influences how much you serve yourself," says Brian Wansink, PhD, author of Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think. "By switching from a 10-inch plate to a 12-inch plate, people will serve themselves 22 percent more." Think you'll notice if you accidentally over-serve yourself? Think again. According to Dr. Wansink, on average, people eat 92 percent of the food they serve themselves, so it's worth it to downsize your dishes. Or, as Linda Mintle, PhD, author of Press Pause Before You Eatrecommends, use your salad plates for your entrées. Similarly, notes Dr. Wansink, when you use a larger serving spoon-a two-tablespoon version instead of a single-tablespoon size-you'll dole out 14 percent more food. So skip the giant serving utensils in favor of traditional cutlery. Photo: Thinkstock

Discover 50 tasty foods under 100 calories.

Your drinking glasses are the wrong shape.

If your go-to glass is short and squat, it may be responsible for your similarly shaped figure. Dr. Wansink's research has shown that we end up pouring an average of 25 to 30 percent more liquid into short, wide 16-oz glasses versus tall, thin 16-oz glasses because, he says, our brains tend to over-focus on the height of objects at the expense of their width. That means when people pour drinks into tall glasses, they assume that they've reached their drink quota sooner, since they overestimate how much a tall glass can hold. So while your stumpy glasses may be perfect for guzzling down more water throughout the day, serve the sugary stuff in something else. Photo: Thinkstock

It's too easy to eat in front of the TV.

When your dining room table becomes a drop-off spot for mail, backpacks and other non-food-related items, it can be tempting to gather around the television for dinner or scarf down breakfast while checking your email. Avoid it, urges Dr. Mintle. "I always tell people to sit down at the table to eat their meals; it will slow them down. You eat more in front of a screen because you're multitasking and not concentrating on the feeling of fullness or enjoying the meal." Mike Moreno, MD, author ofThe 17 Day Diet, suggests making your television less visible. "The TV needs to be looked at as something that's an effort, as opposed to something that's in your face. Turning it on almost has to be a chore." So place it inside a media cabinet with doors or move it away from your comfiest couch so you aren't tempted to plop down and start snacking-especially since Dr. Mintle found that food commercials often prompt people to head for the kitchen. Photo: Shutterstock

Find out why you eat when you're not hungry.

Your bedroom isn't conducive to sleep.

Getting a good night's sleep is essential to keeping your weight in check. When you're tired, levels of leptin, which controls appetite, decrease, while levels of ghrelin, an appetite stimulator, increase. Dr. Mintle recommends working on your "sleep hygiene" to ensure you get enough zzz's. Swap your regular curtains for blackout shades, which will keep your room darker, or invest in a noise machine to cancel out distracting sounds. Even a too-soft or too-stuffed mattress can impede a restful night's sleep. For more tips on how to sleep better, check out " 10 All-Natural Ways to Get a Better Night's Sleep" and " 10 Foods That Can Help You Sleep." Photo: Thinkstock

Your snack foods are always within reach.

When you're hungry, you're going to grab what's closest, so if you take time to strategically arrange the food in your pantry, you can count on keeping off some of that excess weight. "You're three times more likely to eat the first thing you see than you are the fifth thing you see," says Dr. Wansink. Bury the unhealthy snacks in the back of the cabinet and place good-for-you foods front and center so they catch your attention first. And if you're in the habit of stockpiling family favorites from warehouse clubs, be sure to relegate the extras to the basement or garage. In a study documented in Mindless Eating, Dr. Wansink found that when people kept an excess of food and snacks in their kitchen-12 boxes of cereal instead of the usual two-they ate them at almost twice their usual rate during the first week. The surplus, suggests Dr. Wansink, encouraged them to finish up the food quickly so that the quantities would return to a "normal" amount. Photo: Veer/Woman's Day

Fill your pantry with these nutritious snack options to satisfy your hunger and help you lose weight.

The music you play while you eat is too fast.

You know how fitness experts recommend listening to up-tempo music while you work out so you'll increase intensity? The same logic applies to eating, but not in a good way. "The faster and more upbeat the music that's playing, the more you're going to eat," says Dr. Mintle. "It's an unconscious cue to pick up the pace at meals-think about fast-food joints that play these types of songs." On the other hand, she notes that nicer restaurants play slower music, which encourages you to linger and enjoy your meal "If you eat slowly and enjoy every bite, your brain and stomach have time to talk and figure out that you're full before you overeat." So play some slow-tempo tunes to dial down your pace at the dinner table. Photo: Thinkstock

Original article appeared on

you start by saying 'I'm gonna wait on that next one"

you will shortly notice you are not buying packs so often

that makes you say, "Wow, I'm only smoking a fourth of what I was smoking a few weeks ago"

all of a sudden you know.

your mind and body say

Let's Go

you are off on the adventure of a lifetime.

that smoking mindset has changed. it had to.

things have to change to change.

break that routine. sit in a different chair.

read instead of tv

change your snack

BUT, each time you crave a smoke, you say, "oh yeah, i'm not going to."

because that's where you have to stop the thought process,

before you start dwelling on one and your mind starts planning the time and the place.

just one way to get out of the prison of smoking

i hope they are learning what they need to be doing when they get a craving and want to smoke

#1  adding salt to the ocean

#2  cleaning the birdpoop off their neighbors windshield

#3 making pupusas with pupusas

4 changing their socks whether they are dirty or not

#5 grooming their pets with no hands......

She moved from a very stressful living situation to a much less stressful one.

But, the place where she moved in was with 2 smokers.

All they did was lay one down in front of her when they were having a smoke one night.

She picked it right up like she had never quit.

It's always a choice 10 days or 5 years.

you have to distract yourself in the beginning while you learn to live without smoking

or constantly thinking about smoking.

wear your sweater backwards

get an eye patch

sing in a different language (la cucaracha works)

make life different so you don't fall back

Quitting should not be torture every day for 4 months straight.

you should be enjoying more good days than bad, even at 2 months

YES, you will be uncomfortble and feel a loss but if you are forcing it every single day

after a couple months

You need an attitude change

I can give you a link to a free for individual use program that will probably fix your troubles.

pm me or put a note on my page.

i have a 3# summer sausage, unopened. can you imagine?

don't smoke over it, please

Doe Dee Doe Doe

She's smoking again after 5 years not

I worry for her.

They told her they are going to quit on 2-12 but they've tried 1000 times before

and never last.

We can give you very simple steps to quitting. Things that actually work.

Things that will prove to you they are working.

But if all you want to do is make excuses, we can't help you.

We can't stop you from going and buying more and we certainly can't slap it out of your hand.

If this is you I am talking to?

You need to realize that YOU are the biggest part of your quit and, until you are ready to save yourself

all we can do is twiddle our thumbs!

Brothers or Sisters?

my dad smoked a pipe but quit when my twin and I were about 10 so we wouldn't have

him as an excuse to use tobacco.

my mom never smoked

My twin never smoked.
