if they are watching someone close die from smoking right in front of their eyes,

yet going outside for smoke breaks, what's a gross picture gonna do?

that's why I don't use scare tactics in my blogs.

BEFORE you smoke

Go look in the mirror and ask yourself what is worth smoking for ?

Or look in your childs eyes and think how much time smoking steals from them

Do you see the reality that smoking is yet?

How it will affect you?

and them?

Drag around an oxygen bottle for a week or two EVERY PLACE YOU GO.

Better NOW than LATER

Should snap you right out of it

How easy is that?

Get your head around committing to not smoking.

It only hurts a little while

Half Assed Just Won't Do!

Do you have a plan?

Does it make sense to you or are you sort of blindly plodding along just trying not to smoke?

If you study what works or has worked for others you may be able to implement it into your plan

and your plan may start to make sense.

Your plan should make sense to you. Until it makes sense, how can you carry it out?

that's a silly concept to hold onto

Let That One Go!

You gotta put more heart into it than that.

this is your life. what's a half assed try going to do?

get your head around giving yourself this gift. that's what it is.

I feel like this site has no TROLL Under its Bridge.

That's just kinda freeeeeeeaky!!

If you want to see the most current activity on the site?

Look on the left of any page. there will be about 3 items showing but, there is an "older" active button to go back incrementally. You can also keep track on the main page.

When I'm here, I keep the main blog open in one window and the active members in one window at the very least.

Ok, we were idiots and addicts and not too bright for smoking as long as we did.

I want you to think about those times the smoke curled up and made your eyes water and burn.

I want you to think about that cigarette burning down so low it burned your finger.

So many bad memories (I started a friends couch on fire about my second year as a smoker.)

So, what's actually good about smoking?

As you are quitting you will begin experiencing the good parts of not smoking.

Your confidence in yourself for doing this will start overflowing into all areas of your life.

You may finally see clearly what you have been hiding with smoking and honestly, some of it may not

be easy or pleasant.

This is a MAJOR life change. This is seeing it as it is.

Revel in the small victories, revel in the large realizations.

You will never have a better chance of finding yourself.

Be gentle on those you love. Be gentle on yourself.

revel in the newness and

Unthink them thoughts!

And An Even Bigger Brain To Forget You Did It!

Anyone got that magnet?

That Was The Old, This Is The New
It was a late January night
The memories tricking me out of the light
if I hadn’t learned nothing better from time
Those nicotine dreams could’ve made me go blind
  Yeah that was the old
  And don’t it sound good?
  But you know it’s  death
And now I am  new        repeat chorus
The habit was our rabbit down the hole
Our mind would click and we’d find a place to go
But we don’t have to run out anymore
We’ll stay inside, not be old Nico’s whores
  Yeah that was the old
  And don’t it sound good?
  But you know it’s  death
And now you are new          repeat chorus
The air is so clean around me all day
The sun is so bright I get to go play
The strings of guitar, not nicotines game
Cause that was the old, and I’m not the same
  Yeah that was the old
  And don’t it sound good?
  But you know it’s  death
Remain the new you          repeat chorus

It arrived yesterday.

its a little on the bulky wide side to tease him the way I had in mnd.

but i let him sit on it next to me and i can slip my hand in

beneath him and give him a startle.

i rubbed the top side with catnip.

perhaps i can trick him into thinking its his scratching pad and get rid of

all the cardboard shreds he makes with it

       Subject: 2011 Stella Awards

It's time again for the annual 'Stella Awards'! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald's in New Mexico , where she purchased coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right? That's right; these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratcher handy.

Here are the Stellas for year -- 2011:

               *SEVENTH PLACE*

Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son

               Start scratching!

               * SIXTH PLACE *

Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

               Scratch some more...

               * FIFTH PLACE *

Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT days and survive on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have this kind of anguish Keep scratching. There are more...

Double hand scratching after this one..

               *FOURTH PLACE*

Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.

Pick a new spot to scratch, you're getting a bald spot..

               * THIRD PLACE *

Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions?

Only two more so ease up on the scratching...

               *SECOND PLACE*

Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.

               Ok. Here we go!!

               * FIRST PLACE *

This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was: Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down?
$1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.
If you think the court system is out of control, be sure to pass this one on.

I've had a cell phone since 1990. The company I started with was bought out by a bigger company as cell phones became more popular. My subscription was bandied about over the years by a couple companies. A year or so ago, after one of the 2 year contracts ran out, I decided I had been getting screwed for years and there was alot more out there to choose from with no contract.

No more rollover minutes that get reabsorbed by "the Man" after a year. Over three times the minutes and texting for 1/3 what I was paying to the "the Man"

To the man>>>Eat My Shorts!!

Make the change people. Our biggest mistake is lack of action whether it be quitting smoking or changing wireless providers.

"Delaying NOT Weaning"

Each Time you want to smoke one, tell yourself

"I will wait a little longer" A minute, 15 minutes, an hour, three hours. It's not so much the amount of time initially. The length of time will grow automatically as

your mind gets around the idea that you are going to be quitting smoking.

Never deprive yourself during the process as you may start fearing what you're going to do without cigarettes.  This fear is totally unnecessary.

In 3-4 weeks you most likely be smoking 50-75%  less than you are now.

I went from a pack a day to 5cigs  a day in 4 weeks. Then I used the patch for two weeks and

here I am.

This is my first  and only quit after 40 years of smoking.  I have been quit over 5 years.

I never got uptight because I wasn't depriving myself by smoking one less a day or some other such  nonsense.

When you get down to 5 or so a day? Your mind should be saying, "I think I'm ready now."

Listen to your body. You know it better than anyone.

If someone suggested you could use the patch, lozenges and the gum at the same time, do you think

that would help you with quitting?

Where does your footing end?

Seriously. You would take two or three types at once to quit smoking?

Don't you realize you are addicted to the nicotine NOT the smoking?

The smoking is just the habit that feeds the addiction.

Will you ever be able to give up the double or triple aid you've chosen?

You aren't addicted to smoking, you are addicted to nicotine.

Get that through your head.

You are an addict.

within seconds of smoking a cigarette the nicotine reaches your brain through your bloodstream.

There are special little stand up guys called receptors. They are sensitized to nicotine.

Once they are rattled, they send a signal for your brain to release dopamine.

This is your body's own natural heroin.

why wouldn't you want to smoke?

The thing is if you could sit around and push your dopamine button you would.

Our natural instinctual desire is to feel good, not bad.

But as you need  that feeling every 30 minutes or so,

it has become an addiction which your waking life is a slave to.

Slavery pure and simple.

Thats why you want to smoke

We can't come through the screen and take your cigarettes and lighter.

You have to have made the decision before you've quit that you will not smoke.

Anything else is pissing in the wind!

And by the way.....

Good Morning

have you seen this

so coooool

Started smoking at rehearsal breaks after I joined this group

Very stressful. 10 hour rehearsals 3 times a week and 100 miles each way

(and that was after going to high school half a day) 16 hour rehearsals

on Saturdays.

i was 18 when i did this show. we did 6 or 8 more over the next year +

when i was on the road with the ya's, we had 5000 coupons from a restaurant.

can you guess?

sometimes he'll just go teeth and claws on my arm. he doesn't mean to

shred my arm, he's just playing.

so....I just ordered one of those dog bite training sleeves for those rainy days.

i'll let you know how it works out. lol

I love my nicotine   buzz  buzz  buzz

I am an addict because because

I'll make excuses until I die

Or choose to quit and do more than try.

I'm knowing smoking is not helping you with one thing in your life.

It's because quitting takes time.

People start out and make it a week, and then 2.  By the time they get through a month, they think it's over.

It ain't over folks.

Everyone thinks they are "different"

In this quitting thing, we all must go through the same things in approximately the same time frame.

How do I know this you ask?

Because I've been quit over 5 years and spent 15,000 hours on this and another site watching people succeed and fail at this and trying to get the 94% who aren't gonna make that 1st year back on track.

If you are not willing to promise yourself 130 days without smoking? You may as well keep on smoking because thats the minimum commitment you need to make this happen.

You smoked a heck of a lot longer than 4 months and 10 days.

You need to get through an emotional catastrophe or two without smoking to know you can.

So, you say you still want to quit?

Give yourself 130 days from your last puff and then tell me I was wrong.

I challenge you to challenge yourself.

who cares? it's the smell that is gross.

quit smoking and you will smell better.

it's a choice.

Quitting smoking has NOTHING to do with willpower, strength or weakness.

It's a decision. You have to catch yourself before you smoke, rethink the moment and,  step around that smoking thought.

You must break the circle of thought you have been in as a smoker. That means a minor distraction is all that's required.

Find something to take your mind off the crave each time one comes.

I laughed every time. Be consistent. Within a week your mind makes the connection to laughing, not smoking.

Trust me when I say, it's something this simple that will make you a winner in your quit.

No Fear This Way.

And You Learn You Have Some Power Over This Before You Quit

dona let your quit spin your headaroun.

Of His Coyote Proof CATropolis

They were howling this morning, At least 5 of them.

He looked me in the eye and we both shivered.

something just aint right.

who thought up this idea?  and who's monitoring it?

Is it a popularity contest? I've seen posts with people proclaiming on someomes message board

"if you want to be an expert, I'll put in a nomination for you"  WTF is that?

Good luck to those experts with 9 months or less.

I'm handing over my responsibilities to you.

I'm sorry you don't get the knowledge that goes with it.

I hope you are in the 6% and still quit when your first year rolls around.

And to the creators of all the angst who have totally screwed this site with bad ideas?

I don't even have a good luck for you.

Look For The Link Just Below The Crappy Badges On My Page

Eat with chopsticks.

It takes 20 minutes for your brain to register you are "full"

For those proficient with chopsticks?

Use a fishing pole and a hook

be consistent. do it every time you crave.

you will unlearn the triggers to smoke within a week.

trust me, this works

It's much easier to stop a crave in its tracks when looking at yourself from this different perspective.

It gets your mind off the bad focus and right back to your quit.

not for fear of illness or death or for any reason other than a friend said

would you quit smoking? it would really help my brother quit because

he never considered me a smoker so my example didn't do the trick

to convince him.

then he said, it will be good for you. you won't smell when you go meet perspective

clients and its time to think about quitting.

i told him i would consider it.

over the next month i started telling myself to wait longer when one of those automatic

but unsatisfying times to smoke was approaching.

you know, the ones you dont even think about?

i never told him what i was doing

by the end of 4 weeks i was down from a pack a day to 5 a day.

i never denied myself. i just flowed with it until my body said

this is your last pack when i went to my store  that last time and paid for them.

that was over 5 years ago. i have learned to disengage from smoking and spent

15,000 hours on this and another site learning everything i can about what we all experience

when we quit.

while we are not exactly the same, there are strong similarities in the timing of what in the first 130 days we all

must get through to go forward living as non smokers.

i will help anyone who needs it.

if you have questions about how you are feeling or the physical symptoms you are experiencing

i probably can help you with an answer.

this is what we are all here to do.

it is our honor to help you break free.

There are  things we all experience no matter how we start in the beginning.

Go to the top of my page and click on the link "what to expect in the first 4 months"

I wish  had known this when I quit 5 years ago.

hold that thought!

There's plenty of reading material in the rack

and keep lots of TP on hand

Do you understand why you love to smoke?

It's the drug that makes you want to smoke.

Then it's the drug that makes you want to smoke again when life gets a little edgy and you want your high again.

You have given this drug permission to control you by deception.

It will do that as long as you let it. Look what it's done to those close to you,

Nicotine could care less about you,  your health or ANYTHING or ANYONE You Love

Some of it you may not want to hear. Some of it may seem harsh.

That is not the way it is intended.

Some of us have seen it all and can tell what's in your head by what you write.

We are trying to get you on the fast track so you aren't sunk before you start.

You may want to do it your way and I'm not saying you cannot but, there is a process and it all starts in your head.

We are here to help.

Have a wonderful day.
