So, why do we choose to dull life with smoking and other habits that rule us.

Which child are you in your smoke free vision?
The one running across the bridge and into a new future?
The one standing there thinking like a smoker?
(notice he's left handed) Can't see those fingers or him dragging on that cigarette can you?

Always felt... well, even then smoking was a stumbling block

Is That A Good Reason To Quit?

In March, 1999, I broke my right ankle and leg in 80 places. Two months after an 11 day stay in the hospital and two surgeries, I was informed that my ankle bone had died and would have to be put together with a cadaver bone.

Yeah, I smoked as usual for those two months.
Did that cause the Talus to die? Who knows.
If I had known could I have made the choice and stopped smoking? Again, Who Knows?

I was in a wheelchair and on crutches for three years
We are moving and I found the hardware they used to hold my ankle to my leg bone in the 5th surgery.

When I saw the bill for this hardware alone was $12,300, I just about flipped and when it was to be removed, I asked them to save it for me.

The surgery was not supposed to involve 5 rods drilled through my leg and after two hours, the epidural wore off and they couldn't give me any more so I was awake during the last three hours. Lots of fun, eh?

Have Toast Keep The Quit!

After 40 years of smoking I can honestly say I am happier with myself NOT smoking.

Life doesn't get any easier whether you smoke or don't but

you surely gain a new sense of self control when you aren't ruled by tobacco.

Keep Your Quit
Stay Focused

No Bullshit!
A smoker has more red blood cells carrying oxygen for cogitative purposes because of all the carbon monoxide smoking puts into their blood stream?

You may feel dizzy/lightheaded for a month or so after you quit due to this extra oxygen while your body adjusts the oxygen supercharge it needed to counteract the CO2 from smoking.

You might cut corners at intersections and brush knee to bumper with pedestrians, a flock of flippers may follow your pathway. (Yes it happened to me)

Wear dark glasses thet first month. The sun may be your eye's enemy.

Sure seemed that way to me but I was busy looking behind me at a swath of pedestrians

A cigarette doesn't pull itself out,

and jump into your mouth

a bic flicks itself and lights that cigarette

and forces you to inhale.

You have quite a bit of time to consider what you are doing and decide you won't smoke.

Be Good To Yourselves Today
The whole lesson that needs to be learned in life is simple:

To accept the emptiness.

At the very core of life, emptiness is what IS.

Emptiness is at the center of all human experience.

We smoke and drink and spend money we don't have and pine for things and people and days gone by and worship our idols to escape from it, but it's always there.

Nothing left to do or say. "What now?" we ask. "How do I replace what's lost?" we wonder.

We quit smoking because it was killing us but we hate the empty feeling we have without it.

We leave abusive people and return to them, or someone like them, for the same reason.

We don't like prisons such as depression, guilt, our addiction to nicotine, alcohol, sex or our low self esteem but it's the only reality we know.

To deal with emptiness is to confront our demons and see them for what they really are. Nothing at all!

Emptiness is just the flow of life and reality as it really is.

Times change. Relationships end. Jobs are lost. Loved ones die. Old lifestyles change. Our children grow up. Addictions are broken.

We move on. We have to.

To not accept the emptiness is to stagnate. To look back is to turn to salt like Lot's wife.

The lesson to learn is to "Let it Be" as the Beatles said. To let go does indeed cause grief and suffering.

We cry for awhile and time passes and things improve. We look back after a few years at what's lost, and though we still feel a pang of grief, we see that we did manage to move on despite ourselves.

Life is dynamic! Like a river it constantly moves on. We can sit at the river's edge and watch it flow while we cry, or get a canoe and jump in it for the ride.

Imagine what all you'll see on the journey! "What's next?" we ask now with eager anticipation...

This economy is really bad, yes?

I can bid 4 jobs and get none.

"They" use illegal labor and pay cash under the table.

It's been this way for years actually.

People circumventing the system by paying so many under the table and no taxes, no insurance.

"They" choose this way. This is the way of greed and low ethics.

Out here when someone gets caught without car insurance, the law impounds the car.

Funny part is, these people just get another car and never pay into the insurance system.

It costs less to get another car than pay for the car insurance. Of course if they do bodily harm to someone else and can't pay the bill.... Well what do they do? They just shrug it off and say, well they should have known about us uninsured drivers.
