I adopted my sweet baby boy in April. I had never actually had a dog who was just my dog. He was 12 years old and needed a rescue, and he was the perfect dog for me. He loved going outside and would ask to go every hour and a half. He loved to cuddle. Today I had to put him to sleep because he got terribly sick, with fluid in his lungs and a failing liver. I am so sad I can't even think of anything more to say. But I didn't smoke over it.

I am sorry you are sad. Try to focus on the love that you were able to give him at 84 years dog life. It is difficult but I am sure you will be okay. Maybe this was what you had to EXperience. I am sure there is another dog that needs you to rescue too. Gently Hug.

I am so sorry for the loss. I know how it hurts as I have lost many, many pets in my years..........ALL of them dear to me and to my family. Let your memories of him comfort you and remember.....he needed a rescue and you gave it to him. In his last months here on earth, you gave him love and a wonderful life. You loved each other. What more is there?
I hope, once your grief has lessened, that you consider adopting another older dog. They need homes so badly and everyone seems to want "the puppy". A heart as big as yours is what they need. Their unconditional love is what you need.

Donna, I am so sorry. I lost my beloved doggie about 10 months after I had quit. It is so hard. I know the days ahead will be tough, but so are you. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Oh oh oh. Oooh. Oh. I know the pain you're feeling. What a lucky seven months you two had together. I'm so sorry. But at least you had those seven months. Your heart opened wide and now it's been split. You gave him seven months of a beautiful life. May you have the strength and courage to offer that heart to another companion in need. I ache with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss--it's just too soon. I know the pain all too well and can associate. My last dog was also the first dog that was just mine. I'm sure he was happy with the love he was given and know that you made a difference in his life.
