Movie lessons

Sometimes, the things I learn in life are very specific to one particular goal.  If I want a nice light cake, I need to sift the flour first so that it absorbs more liquid in the batter. Or for a smoother ride in my car, I need to keep the correct air pressure in my tires. Very handy knowledge to deal with one specific goal: a better cake, a smoother ride.

Sometimes, I find a thing that I've learned leaps over the fence. It give me a brighter smile AND makes the bed. It applies to a lot of stuff I want to do. Like quitting smoking. Life lessons can come from anywhere, but some of my biggest ones have come from the movies. Here are a few things that I've learned from movies that helped me with my quit:

1) When you are tired and doubt yourself, and you do not believe that you can bend the spoon with your mind, remember, there is no spoon.

2) Life is not laughing at you, it is laughing near you.

3) If something is exploding behind you, walk away and don't look back.

4) Never take your eye off the ball.

5) We are who we choose to be.
