My anxiety/stress plan

The other day I was discussing an assignment from my counselor to develop a plan/list of things I could do to deal with stress and anxiety that did not involve smoking or drinking.   https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/alysonoholic-9-8-13-blog/2013/02/10/5-days-ive-been-lurkin...

joyeuxencore asked if I might share it with you guys, so here it is! I specifically broke it out into things I could do while I was at home, things I would be able to do at work and things I wouldn't be too embarassed to do in public. I hope that some of you might be able to add some ideas to your arsenal and please feel free to share your methods with me as well.

And just to give you a little laugh on Friday (hopefully) I will share my Valentine's status update from last night:

My amazing Valentine's day was comprised of a super romantic trip to the pet store, Target and Rite-aid then carrying about 40 pounds of supplies over the threshold of my apartment before lovingly placing my laundry in the washer and unloading those sexy a** dishes.

Next up, a cuddle foursome with Bread, Gizmo & H.P. Lovecraft. (note for the EXers: Bread & Gizmo are my kitties)

Best V-day evarrrrr!!!

This is actually my third wind on becomeanex.org - in February 2013 I quit for over 6 months before relapsing and realizing I was going to have to start all over again. And then that happened again. So, I'm back here to get at it. I've tried quitting so many times now it's not even that funny. I had basically been smoking since I was 13 (so, 25 years now) and was tired of letting something so stupid and expensive run my life to the extent that it did. In general, I am a pretty healthy person. I work out regularly, I eat well most of the time..it just seemed ridiculous to keep subjecting myself to being stinky and ultimately sick. I know cigarettes don't actually bring anything positive to my life, it was just hard to think of a future that didn't include the habits I had built around them. But now that I am 38 I am determined to live a healthy, well-balanced life and take more time to enjoy my home, my friends, my 2 cats, my city and a life free of cigarettes.
