Boom! "Gee, A Cigarette Would Be Nice Right Now!"

What a tenacious addiction this is!   Here I am more than eight years quit.  I am doing my Manic Fall Housecleaning, and have been working on my bedroom.  I came downstairs to get something to drink and to take a break.  As I'm coming down the steps with a bucket of dirty water and some things to put in the dryer to freshen up, the thought invades, "Gee..."  Easy to dismiss; not a crave, but I am STILL astounded that I even had the thought.  I have found, though, that the "reward" association is the last to leave me, I guess because I have only had eight years of Fall Housecleaning to relearn it.  I am now here reading and responding on the site, enjoying a gingerale over crushed ice,....and creating a NEW association.

Tenacious, though!

Be careful out there!

P.S.  Of COURSE I didn't smoke!!!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
