"On Friday 4/27/2018 at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific we'll have a scheduled maintenance period that may last up to 6 hours on the EX Community. During this time the EX community will not be available. We'll have our Chatzy room open during this time for EX Community members to converse. BecomeAnEX.org will still be available.

It's not a bad idea to ask the elder of your choice for their private e-mail. Hopefully you won't need to use it, but it's good insurance to have. You might also save the link to the Chatzy Room http://www.chatzy.com/EXLiveChat. I'd hate to see a quit lost in the wilderness!
We who have quit have already reduced cigarette butt pollution and air pollution, but we can also stop using plastic straws:
plant a tree, start using cloth bags for groceries (maybe work to outlaw the plastic ones), and use a refillable water bottle. I also use the sun to dry my clothes, and grow plants that are butterfly and bee supportive.
"Nancy is right, I, for one lost a nice 6 months quit because drinking makes you think you have everything under control, (yeah right), and I thought "how would just one going to hurt?" It took another 15 years of smoking before I collected the courage to quit!!"
and lied to, and unduly influenced - Big Tobacco encouraged us to become addicts. It was been proven to be criminal Those of us who remember these ads should not feel ashamed or guilty. We were fed this cr@p nonstop!
But WE who have quit are thumbing our noses at them! Good for US!
If you are just starting out, I hope you will join us thumbers!
"Love and marriage, love and marriage They go together like a horse and carriage This I tell you, brother You can't have one without the other
Love and marriage, love and marriage It's an institute you can't disparage Ask the local gentry And they will say it's elementary
Try, try, try to separate them It's an illusion Try, try, try, and you will only come To this conclusion..."
And so do drinking and smoking. If you are quitting smoking, it's just not a good idea to tempt fate and drink alcohol. You don't know at what point you might start to think, "oh, just one won;t hurt" and then find out differently.
(for the youngsters among us, this is Miss Nancy from Romper Room - a TV show from the 50's. She would look through her mirror and announce names of children she could :see" and you always hoped she would say YOUR name)
When I first quit I was scared to death, my digestion was screwed up, my moods were all over the place, I was uncomfortable in my own skin, there were days I had to quit a minute at a time. It wasn't easy – but it WAS doable. You just have to get through it. Trust me - the freedom is worth all you must go through to achieve it.
You will never be sorry you quit smoking; you will be sorry if you don't
