What is the Freedom Train?  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/ShawnP-blog/2016/04/26/what-is-the-freedom-train

If you are new here, this vehicle provides a place for everyone to gather to celebrate the milestones and successes of those in our community. There are no tickets.  The fuel for this locomotive is love and caring.  The rides on this train are paid for in contributions to the quits of others! The only thing required to ride this train is a desire to breathe free. We encourage everyone to join in the celebration. No matter where you are in your quit, today is special, and is cause for celebration! Celebrate with others, and they will celebrate with you! There are no baggage fees; bring all your "EXtra baggage" and we will help you sort it out.

How do I count my days?  Your personal quit count is located on the “My Quit Plan” tab: http://www.becomeanex.org/my-quit-plan.php#

From time to time we have questions about counting days. While we encourage everyone to celebrate every day of their freedom, here on the Freedom Train we count the days you have completed.  For example, Tommy quit on 01/01/2010. On 12/31/2010 he had reached 365 days. However, he had not completed a year until 01/01/2011.

I think we cherish those moments in our lives when we felt especially happy, or loved, or content, or cherished, or peaceful, and we naturally seek  to recreate them. Since originally those moments included smoking (didn't  almost everything in our lives?), naturally we think smoking is required to feel that way again.

Truth:  it's NOT!  Those moments were not special because we were smoking.  We CAN feel that way again - smoking is not required!

The weekend is almost here!   I'm stopping by to give my weekly warning about drinking.  You really don't know the point at which the addict within will tell you, "just one is OK.  No one will know."  This site is full of folks who lost quality quits because of alcohol.

Please don't chance it!  A quit is a terrible thing to lose.

Good morning, fellow EXer's!

The Freedom Train is on the tracks, and prepared to make its daily run to freedom from smoking. My journey took me on THIS train last week - without having to worry about my next fix.  Everyone is invited to come aboard to celebrate their own personal freedom, and that of their friends!

So - my service provider tells me my router is too old and I need to either buy a new one (BUY it?!!) or pay a monthly service fee because my old one probably will quit working soon.  OK - so I pay the $68.00 (and, no, you can't comparison shop --- you can only get it from the service provider!!.  It arrives and I am getting ready for my trip.  While I'm gone, my daughter's boyfriend decides to hook it up for me - turns out unsuccessfully.  Now - if the youngun' can't do it - I am doubly intimidated at my ability to do it successfully. As reported,I had to buy a new computer, so thought I would install the new router before I got it up and running.  There were no longer instructions in the box.

SO - I call Verizon.  I talk to a service tech in Manila (yep - MANILA!) and ask him to please send me new instructions.  He suggests we just go ahead and set it up with him on the phone.  I figure - well, why not.  My first indication this was not going to go well was when he told me to go get a pin or needle to hit the reset button.  WHAT engineer designed something that you need a PIN to reset???  Anyhow - I regress,  After 25 minutes on the phone, the d@mn thing is still not working, and now I have no internet.  We cannot go back to the old router at this point, he says.  So, I am without internet until the technician arrives this morning.  What does he do?  He checks to see what network the computer is trying to reach and it's incorrect.  He puts in the new Network ID and the new Password and - VOILA - NOW I'm good to go.  Did the Manila checklist NOT include putting in the new ID and password????????????????????????????

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

but - I'm not smoking over it (won't say the thought didn't briefly cross my mind, though)!

Nancy

To quote our friend Connie (I hope she doesn't mind!):

"As someone who has lived this, time after time, everytime I have 'lost my smoking quit' it was because I 'lost my drinking quit'!"

Let's all learn from her example.  This weekend, it is just not a good idea to drink.  Please keep your quit your #1 priority.

Fun AND distracting for all ages!

;-)

really DO go together.  This weekend, please don't drink and take a chance on ruining your quit.

Better safe than sorry!

My 'puter has a bad hard drive.  My computer geek neighbor said he could replace it until he looked into the door where it lives and decided it was not something he was interested in doing, I think.  It had all kinds of plastic clips and other stuff holding it in place.....

He loaned me a Chromebook which I am kind of liking - but at least now I can get online and look for a new device....

And - I never once thought about smoking over it --- tearing out my hair and screaming, maybe, but no cigarettes were involved!
