Good morning, fellow EXer's!

The Freedom Train is on the tracks, and prepared to make its daily run to freedom from smoking. Everyone is invited to come aboard to celebrate their own personal freedom, and that of their friends!

We encourage you to come aboard today! Shout out your personal milestones, those of your friends, and show pride in your quit: 2 days, 200 days or 2000 days, or  more if you have them! Let us hear from you, and let us all celebrate our freedom. Post food and music - IT IS PARTY TIME! This train is bound for FREEDOM from the evils of tobacco and smoking.

"IF YOU ARE NOT RIDING WITH US, YOU ARE MISSING THE TRAIN"

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ABOARD!!!!!!

What is the Freedom Train?  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/ShawnP-blog/2016/04/26/what-is-the-freedom-train

If you are new here, this vehicle provides a place for everyone to gather to celebrate the milestones and successes of those in our community. There are no tickets. The fuel for this locomotive is love and caring. The rides on this train are paid for in contributions to the quits of others! The only thing required to ride this train is a desire to breathe free. We encourage everyone to join in the celebration. No matter where you are in your quit, today is special, and is cause for celebration! Celebrate with others, and they will celebrate with you! There are no baggage fees; bring all your "EXtra baggage" and we will help you sort it out.

How do I count my days? Your personal quit count is located on the “My Quit Plan” tab: http://www.becomeanex.org/my-quit-plan.php#

From time to time we have questions about counting days. While we encourage everyone to celebrate every day of their freedom, here on the Freedom Train we count the days you have completed. For example, Tommy quit on 01/01/2010. On 12/31/2010 he had reached 365 days. However, he had not completed a year until 01/01/2011.

Where can I sign up up for the Freedom Train celebration calendar?

Perseverance

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Jun 20, 2016

Marilyn's quote this morning brought this blog to mind.    Quitting smoking is a journey and, since everyone is different, their quits follow an individual timeline, as well.  I remember asking:  "When will this be over?" and feeling like the journey was never ending.  What I found was that, little by little, it DID get easier and finally came the day I noticed I had not thought much about smoking.  THEN I reached Day 108 and had the most terrrible craves!  They seemed to last forever, and I felt as though I might just as well throw in the towel, so tired of fighting was I.  Was it NEVER going to end?  Luckily,  I had friends here on Ex who talked me down.

I'm here to tell you it WILL end.  Just stay the course.  I am a LESSON in perseverance!  If you had told me after my awful surgeries and stays in rehab  that I would be able to do all that I can now - I would have had you committed.  Two years ago I could not even stand unasssisted.  But - little by little, with the help of a lot of physical therapy, I am back to go.   Quitting smoking is the same kind of thing.  Just keep doing what you have to do to get stronger in your quit and take it one day at a time.

I won't guarantee you will be able to prune 85 forsythia bushes, bundle the branches and get them to the street for recycling - but you just might!  And, you can reach a day where you never think about smoking!

Life IS grand when you don't smoke!

Nancy

I have fancy woodwork around my front door, including one leaded glass panel on either side.  I have ALWAYS dreaded painting it - but today it was easy as can be.  My hand was totally steady - I credit quitting smoking for that.

Having the right tool might have helped, too!  (btw - I LOVE this brush!  It has a rubber handle so it's flexible and allows you to spread the paint more evenly:)

Quit smoking NOW and you, too, can paint like a pro (well - almost!!!)

If you drink this weekend, you may end up not knowing what day it is OR that you've quit smoking.  Please don't chance it.  A quit is a terrible thing to lose!

I am painting my front porch, and ran out of time and energy yesterday to get TSP and painter's tape.  I needed to go to Home Depot - but on a Saturday afternoon?  Oh, my - I just KNEW it was going to be a crowded mess with long lines and grumpy people.   was trying every which way but loose to figure out a way not to have to go.  But, my progress was halted until I could get those two things (sound like the start a quit argument with yourself?)

So, gritting my teeth and with a death grip on the steering wheel, I headed out (sound to you like the beginning of a quit?)

And - guess what?  I breezed in, found what I needed (well, after a few false aisles), went to the register area and discovered NO lines, paid for my stuff and was out of there - easy peasy.

Now - I'm not saying your quit is going to be easy peasy - but please don't talk yourself out of it before you start!

Nancy

and so would be a decision to drink alcohol this weekend.

Your quit needs to remain your #1 priority - and drinkin' can lead to stinkin' thinkin'!
