It (still) Happens to the Best of Us!

I'm cleaning my upstairs and have been at it for awhile.  I  come downstairs to replenish a cleaning supply when WHAM - I want a cigarette!    See, it's time to take a break - I am where I used to smoke.  I suppose I haven't cleaned my upstairs (with all my surgeries and recoveries) that many times since I quit....so my auto response is obviously still turned on.

It's OK - I made a decision that I would never, ever smoke another cigarette and I will continue to honor it.  See - it IS a decision!!

I came to the site, and am enjoying a cold Pepsi over crushed ice.  This is my new break reward since I don't drink soda anymore.

Just so you know - we will ALWAYS be addicts.  Triggers may come upon us - it's how we deal with them that's important!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
