Big Johnny quit smoking three weeks ago and hasn't had a BM since! Sorry – but it's a withdrawal symptom.  Nicotine actually did aid digestion.

Increase your water and fiber intake ----- a LOT!  Exercise also helps.

When all else fails, there's always the plunger!!!!

(or a stool softener)

Boxes

SMOKE?

DON'T SMOKE!

Just check the proper box each day - it really is as simple as THAT!

I had a smokemare last night!  More of a nightmare - but smoking a cigarette was part of it.

And the worst part?  The only thing that seemed to bother me was that I knew I stunk!

Means nothing - but I am ever surprised at the addiction whispering even after three + years.

Be vigilant, my friends!

Nancy

Every evening when I was a smoker, I would go to the back of my property. put water in the birdbaths in my woodland garden, and then swing on one hung from a huge tree while I relaxed and smoked an after dinner cigarette.

After 3+ years quit, I still have not wanted to get back on that swing.  The association with smoking is still SO strong.

Now that I've recognized what is going on, I intend to go swing on my swing tonight and not have to puff on a cigarette while doing it.  How cool will that be???

Nancy

P.S.  I'll let you know if I still miss smoking then!

I swung.

I didn't smoke.

Things I discovered:

a)  I really didn't think about smoking.

b)  Realized you can't smoke while actually swinging - you need two hands on the ropes.

c)  Can't smoke while leaning all the way back to look up through the gorgeous tree branches

d)  Carrying the butt all the way back to the house must have been GROSS!

I'm so glad I don't do that.anymore.

Last night I cut and brought in a bunch of zinnias and placed them in front of an open window.  When I went to close the window last night, I actually smelled the fragrance of the zinnias.  Now that I have not  destroyed my sense of smell by smoking, I SMELLED the zinnias.

It brought back a memory of when I was a little girl and MY Mom used to pick and bring in those blossoms.  Took me right back there!  Her birthday would have been today.  Coincidence?  I think not.

I am so glad I could smell the zinnias!  It brought her close to me again.

Quitting smoking is not an event. It's a journey, and you must give it the time it takes. You probably smoked for a long time, and you are an addict. You won't get over that in a week or even a month. It gets easier – but it takes awhile.

I LOVE swimming laps, but because of health issues, I haven't been able to do that for a very long time . As a matter of fact, last spring I couldn't even get out of a chair unassisted!  But - I worked my butt off - a little at a time, day by day.  I stood and sat and sat and stood until I could get up by myself. I started with short little walks, one part of the driveway at a time, every day, one day at a time.  And then I walked farther.  THEN I was able to go to the gym and I worked even harder.

THEN I fell and broke my hip (likened to a relapse, perhaps?) – so I started all over and worked, day by day, week by week, month by month.

It took a year all totaled - but I am swimming 30 minutes of laps and today took my first walk along the river in the park.

As oldbones says: one step and then another will get you to where you want to go. Each day you don't smoke brings you closer to FREEDOM.  It does take quite a few days, but it is SO worth the effort...............just like my swimming!

"Nice Drinks" are proven quit killers.  You might want to chance the bears instead this weekend!
