It got me thinking!

Marilyn's blog this morning got me to thinking.

It takes many conscious efforts to smoke again - so it doesn't happen by accident.  You have to get one (did you keep some around just in case, perhaps - giving yourself permission to fail?) or you have to get to a store to buy them. You have to ask a clerk for them, and then pay your money. Then, you have to open the pack, take one out, find something to light it with (again - did you keep matches/lighter around just in case?), light it and then inhale.  I cannot imagine that first inhalation didn't cause you to almost choke up a lung, but you took another hit of that drug.  At any point before that first puff you have to make the bad decision to continue.  You also had the opportunity to stop.

If you get to that point, PLEASE post a HELP blog!  Give us time to talk you out of it.  It IS a matter of life and breath!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
