300 DAYS!

I found the Ex community a few days after my quit date of 7/4/12. At that time, I wrote in my profile that health issues had forced me to confront my addiction head on. I vowed that I would get back to being able to go for long walks by the river and swim laps. After surgery and 300 days quit, I am thrilled to report that I AM walking by the river (an hour and a half on Sunday) and swimming 30 minutes of laps three days a week.

This quit was not the easiest thing I have ever done, but it WAS doable! I am here to bear witness to the fact that it is SO worth doing. The benefits are immense. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful it feels to have my active lifestyle back!

So, if you are in the early stages of your quit and think it's too hard – just keep at it, one minute, one hour at a time if necessary. That's how I made it.

You CAN do this, and I promise, you will be so glad you did!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
