The Baltimore Sun hosted a recipe contest for Peeps.  The winners included a pot pie (vanilla pudding with Peep's pieces for carrots, peas, cauliflower, etc with a graham cracker bottom crust and a lattice top), pork loin stuffed with peaches and Peeps with drunken Peeps' sauce, Peeps crab nuggets (oh, my!) and Peep-r-nutter cupcakes.  Not so sure about the crab one, but everything else sounds like fun!

If you want to give any a try and can't find the recipes on the net, let me know!

Happy Easter!

Good News!

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Mar 22, 2013

I had occasion to visit my family doctor today.  One of his areas of interest and expertise is smoking cessation.  He mentioned to me, while, of course, congratulating me on my continued success, that current studies are showing that 30% of smokers who quit are now making it to a year.  That is up from only 6% a short time ago.

Yet another nail in the coffin of the fallacy that it is "just too hard!"  It is not easy, but it is DOABLE ---- and the lastest studies PROVE it!

As Mike in Atlanta likes to say, "Keep on keepin' on."  We are making good statistics happen.    Be one of the 30%!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I still enjoy the smell of the smoke from a cigarette being smoked outside.  When I spot (or smell) someone smoking outside, I will often walk towards them for a brief sniff.  I always explain what I am doing and why I am doing it as I approach them.   It is interesting to me that 100% of the time, these smokers ask me to tell them how I quit, and they literally hang on EVERY word of advice.  We HAVE what these people WANT!  Let's not lose sight of our accomplishments.

Instead of being the downtrodden underclass, the scorned of society, we quitters have become the shining examples to be emulated!  How cool is THIS?

Walk proudly, quitters!

Circling the Drain

If you are still smoking, you are just circling the drain....................

Hey, everybody, you can do this, too!  Make the commitment and then DO it.   I can hardly believe it has been 250 days since I last smoked a cigarette!  What a nice, round number that is.  I can't say it's all been easy, but I CAN say it has been worth what it has taken

Just DO it.  I guarantee you will be glad you did!

I noticed there were several things missed from the list previously posted and wanted to add a few.

102. March in place or round and round a table.

103. Eat a piece of chocolate candy.

104. Bite into a lemon (yup - rind and all)

105. Put your head in a freezer and take a deeeeeeeep breath.

106.Raise and lower your arms as you slowly inhale, then exhale, going slower and slower

107. Do the multiplication tables in your head,  or long division, or divide fractions!

108.  Name all the states alphabetically

109. Then name all their capitals!

110. Think of a girl's, then a boy's name that starts with each letter of the alphabet.

111.  Think of something to add to this list.

Feel free to add any that have not been included on the list on my page or this one...............
