Be very encouraged, newbies!  I smoked for 40+ years.  Trust me - if I can do this, EVERYONE can!

My secret?  I was 100% committed to this effort.  I did not allow a thought of failure enter my head.

A word of encuragement, too - the cravings are fewer and farther between and there are chunks of time I don't think about it at all.  I am able to have that firs AM  cup of coffee without a draving.  I still think about a cigarette from time to time, but it's not a real craving; it's more like a memory passing through.  I accept that I can never have even one puff of a cigarette and I stay strong in that with the remembrance of how difficult I found that first week - and knowing I NEVER want to go through that again!!!!!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
