Come ON!

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Jul 19, 2012

I thought this was supposed to get easier!   I have been quit for two weeks now - and today has been one constant craving!  I will never put myself through day one of a quit again - so no way am I giving in, but this is downright mean!!!!!

Not giving in; not giving in; not giving in!  DEEEEEEEEEEP breaths!  Deeeeeeep Breath!  Well, that's a LITTLE better!

Goin' out to the yard now to move the sprinkler ---- no cigarettes allowed THERE!  They get a bit soggy!!!!

Thanks for listening - rant over!

TWO weeks!!!!!!!

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Jul 18, 2012

Having smoked for 40+ years. there was no way I thought  I could even get through two DAYS!  But - thanks to my readings, and all my friends here and my supportive family and friends  ---- HERE I AM AT T W O   WEEKS!  I must also hasten to give credit  to the Hershey Chocolate Company for their kisses!!!!

If I can do it, anybody can!  My deep breaths are deeper, and my kitchen smells wonderful!  Today is a good day!  And, I am sure, the first of many clean, healthful breathing days to come!

Educate yourself, do your plan, get committed and join me (if you haven't already)  This quitters world is kind of nice!

Smoker's Dream!

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Jul 16, 2012

Had a dream last night where I was out socializing with friends.  One offered me a cigarette and I took it and lit it, and then, with HORROR, said, "OMG - I don't do this anymore!!!" and put it right out.  I don't remember whether I inhaled or not - tee-hee!

I am proud that I am even committed in my SLEEP!!!!

I am quit for 10 days and taking Chantix.  Smoked for 40+ years.  I  have lost myself in this!  I used to be a get-up-and-go-lady.  A cool day had me up bright and early to work in my many gardens or do some cleaning.  If I went on a trip, I was planned and packed and had everything organized.  This person doesn't seem to exist right now.  I just got back from a short trip where I didn't have most of what I needed!  It's a cool morning, and I have zero desire to work in my gardens!

Please tell me this will go away!  PLEASE!!!!!!

I MADE it!

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Jul 9, 2012

One more hurdle jumped! I had to drive on a major highway in the rain this morning, something that is very stressful since a major auto accident, also in the rain, three years ago. Add to that a visit to a cardiologist – and you can imagine my state of anxiety.

I would ALWAYS have a smoke before getting on the highway, and certainly in the car after the doctor's appointment before hitting the road again. I won't say it was easy, but I MADE it with zero cigarettes this morning!

My quit continues, and so does this journey.

New to the Forum

Posted by Youngatheart.7.4.12 Jul 8, 2012

I am new to the forum and already have found it to be a place of solace and sound advice. I have smoked for forty+ years (I can no longer remember when I actually started, although I suspect pretty soon after birth :=).

I am on Day Five of my quit and Hershey Kisses have become my best friend. I am facing major artery bypass surgery the end of the month, so I figure I will lose whatever weight I gain from that trauma! I generally eat a very healthy diet, so I guess these indulgences won't kill me in the short term!

I am having a really tough time of this, but am steely in my resolve. Now that I know how difficult it is, I don't think I will be able to talk myself into doing this ever again. Failure is not an option!

Thank you all for your support and all the wonderful advice you have given me so far. I hope to return the favor when I am quit for the 130 days (thanks for that benchmark, Dale!)
