I recently was told I have COPD Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema and that if I didn't quit now, I'd be pulling around an oxygen tank for the rest of my life within a few years. I quit right away, for about ten days. My husband had been going out back to sneak his so I wouldn't notice, before that we both smoked outside on the porch. After 7 days I felt that I had it conquered and asked my husband if he would start smoking on the porch again. (I felt bad he was outside so much and I missed his company).  But for three days he looked like he was literally inhaling pure refreshment, and so I started again. I had quit for ten days and it was easier than I thought it would be. The other two times I quit I lasted for 2 months and 2 1/2 months, and those times too, I started again because I was around other people who smoke.

So I know what to do now, stay away from other smokers after I quit. My husband had gone down to only 4 cigarettes a day, by the way, at the time I restarted. So hopefully, this time he will quit along with me, only having his last cigarette outback somewhere.

I need to quit. I am not young but I'm not that old either. 42 and Emphysema ... I really thought I had more time to quit. I thought maybe around age 75 or 80 I'd get emphysema, if at all.

I can do this, I have to do this, I will do this.
