QUIT

Most of you know me.

I’m not really an advocate of tough love when it comes to relapses.  I can be….but, unfortunately, sometimes I find the term tough love to be a disguise for rude.

But, I’m not a hugger/excuser either . I’m not going to tell you it’s OK to relapse and relapse over and over. In my opinion all you are doing is teaching yourself to relapse. You’re not going to hear me say “that’s ok” “don’t worry”. You do need to worry somewhat and figure out how you lost your quit.

I guess my usual “style” (if I have one) is to be pragmatic…….you must begin again. You must figure out what went wrong and what you intend to do the next time it happens.  I try to use a logical, empathetic approach (maybe?)---kind, understanding but firm (maybe?)

But tonight----that’s all going to change just for this blog. I’m not going to be empathetic and I may even be a bit rude. I am going to state to all newbies, to anyone wavering and about to skip their quit date,  to anyone considering relapse and to old friends who have relapsed but maybe till read on here……..

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WAKE UP AND KEEP/START YOUR QUIT.

I am sad tonight because someone who means a lot to me now has a very serious disease most assuredly either caused or at least made worse through smoking.  They do not have long to live. They quit over and over; relapsed again and again for all of the reasons we can all name in our sleep. Used the flippant “I have to die of something”; “I don’t spend money for myself on anything else”; “My life is too stressful to quit”……..all the little phrases we all used.

YOU SEE PEOPLE....... YOU NEVER KNOW WHICH ONE IT IS!!! While you are relapsing…….and thinking about quitting again…..it could be THAT ONE!!! There is no time to think about it or decide or wait for special days or occasions………….THERE IS NO TIME.

Smoking is a killer. We have seen it time and time again. We have lost people in our 3D lives and we have lost people here on EX.

THERE IS NO TIME  LEFT TO WAIT.

THERE IS NO REASON THAT EVEN MAKES SENSE TO KEEP SMOKING.

QUIT……….NOW.

About the Author
I quit smoking in 2009 after years and years of addiction. I just became sick and tired of the whole smoking thing. This site was a lifesaver with the support I received...so as you can see, I hung around to help others. I became friends with many people....some are here now and some are gone. Welcome to anyone who is new....this is EX....we are all here for each other.
