~~I like messy people; people who don't fit in a box or stay between the lines, but whose integrity is greater than any rule book and whose loyalty is stronger than blood.~~ Unknown

Some of my favorite quotes have to do with behaving yourself.  Things like "Let us live so well that when we come to die, even the undertaker is sorry."  Or "Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one would believe it."

But sometimes we misbehave or say something we shouldn't have or even throw such a colossal fit that they hear it into next week.  One of my besties says that people only take their anger out on those who will love them anyway.  They feel safe, right?  I disagree.  I think people don't care who they take their anger out on when they reach the point of no return.

When I quit smoking, I quit on a weekend. I gave myself Saturday and Sunday to be a total...uh-hum...witch.  Of course, I stayed in my room the whole weekend   After that, I wasn't going to react in anger simply because I quit smoking.  My kids didn't deserve it and neither did the rest of the world.  Don't get me wrong.  I still felt angry sometimes and I even said it out loud, "I'm angry".  But to lash out at people who did nothing to deserve it????  No, I don't think that's ok.  So I curbed my tongue and directed my anger at whatever it was I was feeling angry about.

Now, I recognize we are all unique souls who do things differently.  And I know that we all respond, react, and behave in all sorts of ways.  And truthfully, I've been the target of more than one person's anger here on Ex because my response was not what someone wanted to hear or took well.  I get it.  Truly.  Remember I used to be on my first week or two of my quit as well.  We've all been there.

Our lives are filled with uncertainties, trauma, unexpected events, sorrow, heartbreak.  That's life.  In all it's glory and all it's darkness.  We shouldn't compare and we shouldn't judge.  But we also shouldn't take out our frustrations on those who are only trying to support.  We shouldn't hurt others because we are hurting.  To me, that's unacceptable.

Now, people here also forgive easily.  They move on.  They continue to support.  They are just the BEST people around!!  I hate that these marvelous people get hurt by those they are trying to help.  They don't deserve that.

I can't apologize for others.  But I can say that I truly marvel at those who stay here to help others no matter what those others put them through.  They share wisdom, knowledge, support...and most importantly, they share a part of themselves.  All in an effort to help people stop killing themselves with cigarettes.  Please respect that.
