Do Something

~~Do something today that your future self will thank you for.~~  Unknown

Stop for a moment before you jump to the conclusion that I mean quit smoking.  Of course it's the ultimate goal but please remember that quitting is a journey, not an event.  You can't get there in one day.  So instead of that, maybe you can take it down a notch?

Today, give yourself some grace.  You aren't stupid because you had that one cigarette.  You aren't a 'failure'.  Today, recognize that quitting is a challenge in life and you are learning what to do and what NOT to do.

Today, love yourself through it. Stop beating yourself up for being human.  You can't change the past...even if it's just two minutes ago.  Learn something from it instead.  Hug yourself and tell yourself that it's ok NOT to get it yet...you're learning.

Today, be your own best friend. Remind yourself of all you do that's kind and good and right. Love those flaws that usually irritate you.  They, too, are a part of you and until you are ready to let them go, it's ok to have them.

Today, just learn to be.  Be aware. Be present.  Tomorrow will be here soon enough so don't rush through the day trying to reach another one.  Time is precious and so  are you.  Savor the moments.

One step at a time gets you to where you want to be (thank you, OldBones-Larry‌, for that wonderful quote!!).  Today, let that be enough.

Today will never come again.  Make good memories. Be ok with imperfections. Hold on.  Hang in there.  And love yourself through it.  You, my friend, are brilliant just the way you are   Give yourself some grace and allow yourself to grow.  Because when you learn to do that, your future self will definitely thank you.

Peace and much love,

Sheri
