Share your quitting journey
Hello all! I am new to this community and very nervous as I embark on the journey to finally quitting, hopefully for good! I have come to this group for support in my journey because I cannot tell my family because they all tink that I quit a long time ago. I have a very few friends that know the truth and will support me here as well. I have tried to quit before and was not successful, but this time really does feel different. I really really want it this time.
I am tired of having health anxiety issues that all stem from me worrying about my health from smoking. If I can get this under control then the other will be under control as well. I have smoked since I was 16 and am 32 now. I dont really consider myself to be a heavy smoker because I have really only smoked about a half a pack a day (which is still too much). I am ready to rid myself of this horrible habbit for good!
I have noticed as I have cut down drastically this past week to only 3-5 a day that my chest is tight at times and I am coughing up all kinds of nastiness. I go to the doctor on the 31st to make sure that everything is alright. I have read that this is a pretty normal response when cutting back and or quitting. But I do try to stay away from google because it always makes you fear the worst when you type in any symptoms.
Can any of you give me any advice or experiences that have been similar to this? I am pretty scared about the feelings in my lungs and the stuff I have been coughing up. I fear the worst due to health anxiety so any input woud be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
