I'm not at my quit date yet, but I have gone from 2 packs a day to averaging about 17 cigarettes per day just conciously thinking about smoking, tracking my cigarettes, and doing other things when I have the urge to smoke. Some days I think this will be easy, and other days, I get nervous just thinking that my quit date is getting closer. Needless to say, I try not to think about my quit date and try to think of how much better off I will be. I have also been able to pin point my weakest moments which are first thing in the morning, after a meal, stress, and boredom. I'm working on those things and take it a day at a time. I've found that I do better on the weekends when I don't have job stress. Having a drink with friends and being around other smokers does not seem to bother me too much. Many of my friends are non-smokers and I don't smoke around them anyway, so that has not been a problem. I also do not smoke in my car, so no problem there. One of my fears is weight gain, which was an excuse for starting up again on my other quits. I am determined not to replace the cigarettes with food this time and if I do gain a few pounds, so be it.
