Many of you have received this email last night but I wanted to give you all one more notification of it just in case you hadn't seen it. Here is a copy of the message that was sent.

If you have not yet already done so, today is the last day to update your BecomeAnEX username! If you already have, many thanks for taking action so promptly.

If you have not yet updated your username, please read on!

Why: The new community platform requires all usernames are unique and limited to specific characters.

How: Please log in to your BecomeAnEX account and update your username to a valid one that contains only A-Z, a-z, 0-9, hyphen(-), underscore(_), or period(.). These are the ONLY characters that are allowed; usernames cannot contain any spaces. Your new username must be between 3-30 characters long and must be unique.

IMPORTANT: If you click SUBMIT and the site spins, log out of EX and log back in and your new username should be submitted correctly.

When: Today!

How to Know If You Need to Update Your Username: Just by looking at your username, you can see if your username includes spaces or special characters that are no longer supported (such as ~, !, @, or *). If you're not sure if your username is unique, search the member directory for your username and see if other members with the same username come up. Also, you're receiving this email, which means your username needs updating!

Frequently Asked Questions and Tips for Usernames

I Already Changed My Username. Do I Need to Change It Again? Nope, you're good! You are receiving this email because your username was originally flagged as one that needed to be changed. If you've already changed it, please disregard this email.

Does My Username Need to Have My Quit Date? Nope! One of the things we are excited about on the new platform is that it will be much easier for other users to see your quit date. If you want to keep your quit date in your username, by all means please do (with no spaces or special characters though!).

Shorter and Simpler is Generally Better: Shorter and simpler usernames can make it easier for others in the EX Community to recognize and remember you. The new platform will also have fun ways to @mention others, so a memorable username is good to have.

Should I Use My Real Name? For privacy purposes, we recommend avoiding using your full (first and last) name. However, if you like to use one or the other, or want a username consistent with other social media profiles you have, it's your choice!

How Do I Know If My New Username Fits the Requirements? When you save your new username, an error message will pop up with instructions about what needs to be changed. Make sure to read it! If you don't see an error message, you're good to go.

If you have not updated your username by tomorrow, we will create a temporary one that meets the community requirements. You can update this on EX until we move platforms. If you want to change it after the move, you will need to submit a request.

If you have any questions, please post a comment below.

Many thanks,
The EX Team
