2018

YIKES it's November tomorrow life is zooming by so fast BUT that's A OK because at least I'm not outside in all kinds of weather sucking on a cancer stick coughing and choking and nearly horking up a lung or possibly even both trying to get a freaking drag, if you're reading this and are on the fence about quitting smoking or if you're struggling with remaining quit please know that quitting is definitely difficult BUT absolutely DOABLE I believe its my 1,570 th  day of Freedom and it's definetly the best gift that I've ever given myself or any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE so as difficult as quitting can be it's much easier than waiting too long and having a Dr tell you to go home and get your affairs in order that there's nothing that can be done our lives deserves for us to look after ourselves so we can be around to enjoy the little things in life that's actually the the big things in life.....my Hump Day buddy George and I want to wish each of you a Hasslefree Stressfree BUT most importantly Smokefree day...

One of the best choices I've ever made was choosing to quit smoking and it's also the best gift that I or any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE which I consider the one gift that'll keep on giving day after day week after week month after month and Lord willing year after year and it's vital to our quality of living, our quits are firmly in our grasp so let's always remember and N.E.F  - Never Ever Forget DAY ONE because going back to it would totally suck big time but another Day WON now that's worth celebrating and definetly worth smiling about.

Anything in this life worth having means we have to be willing determined and totally committed to succeed then we have to realize that it's going to take time and effort to relearn life without the smokes because once you stop and think about how many decades upon decades you smoked then it only stands to reason that it's bound to take time to feel comfortable in your own skin again BUT it does get easier and easier with time under your belt and being able to go anywhere anytime whenever wherever and however without worrying about where to sneak off to suck on a cancer stick is definitely a humongous plus to be living a Smokefree Life everything is a plus when it comes to quitting smoking just keep moving forward if you're struggling because life really does get better and better so hang on tight and you will get to that point where you realize just how much better life is as an Ex Smoker or a Non smoker it really doesn't matter which you prefer to say as long as stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance which guarantees you a Life of Freedom.....

You can and will get through those horrid rough patches by continuing to move forward N.M.W. believe me when I say I know how difficult it can be in those early days and weeks of quitting smoking BUT as long as you are willing to plow forward you will be successful in your precious quit journey and I can tell you that when you get to that point where you realize how much better life is as an Ex Smoker then you'll never want to see another Day ONE ever again BUT you'll love each and every Day WON! Sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance guarantees each of us a lifetime of Freedom.......

I'm sitting here drinking coffee at 4:30  Atlantic time because our 15 year old Samantha Digger Jane Hartley is having a frenzy over what I really don't know BUT she's been doing it quite often lately and tonight she started  pacing, panting and knocking stuff over around 1 o'clock this morning poor Mark tried getting her to settle which was no dice  I put her in her crate which she certainly didn't like so she decided to bark I figured I might as well to turn the coffee on at 3:45 . Mason is here for the night at least he's still sleeping and I made poor Mark go back to bed it's going to be a long day, I don't normally nap but I just might this afternoon after Mason goes home I'm so glad I don't smoke anymore other wise I'd be sitting outside in the 15°F weather sucking on the cancer sticks coughing choking and nearly horking up a lung or possibly even both BUT whew thankfully with N.O.P.E and vigilance and by keeping them away from my face I'm living my Forever quit and so can everyone that's decided to bite the bullet and take back their LIFE because as difficult as quitting can be it's absolutely Doable and totally worth it  so if you're struggling hang on tight and don't let go of the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE, here's my Sam now that I'm up up she decided to sleep grrrrrrr.

No Matter What is happening in life we can always choose to stick with N.O.P.E and Vigilance no matter what the situation or emotion may be in order to live a life of Freedom we must choose to stick with our quits even in those early days and weeks as difficult as quitting can be it's absolutely Doable and vital to our quality of living and once you've plowed through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawals and moodswings and lack of sleep to get to that point where you realize how much better life is as an Ex Smoker you'll be sooooooo glad that you stuck with your quit...... even though it's not even 7:30 yet I'm running late I'm taking my mother in law to an appointment this morning so I better finish up here and get showered up and get some breakfast before I head out. ....

I know that I am a broken record but I want everyone to EXperience the Freedom of an EXer because there's definetly Life after Cigarettes BUT you must believe it and take a deep breath and educate yourself by reading everything you can about quitting smoking and remaining quit because there's a wealth of information right here on this site to strengthen your resolve to quit and stay quit, it's definetly not easy by any stretch of the imagination BUT it's absolutely Doable and totally worth it to be able to go anywhere anytime whenever wherever and however without worrying about where to sneak off to suck on a cancer stick. LIFE is always going to be full of ups and downs whether we smoke or not I'll tell you the longer we're quit the easier it will get and at some point you'll realize how much better life is as an Ex Smoker and that it's easier to deal with life on life's terms without the crutch of cigarettes, I know for me that quitting smoking was and is the gift of LIFE because I played Russian Roulette with my life for 40 yrs BUT no more because I stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance which guarantees me and all of you a LIFE of FREEDOM as long as we keep them away from our face then there's absolutely no way we can FAIL! I say YAY for Smokefree living and yay for each and every Day WON because life just keeps getting better and better without the smokes. .....

Wowser one week from today is Halloween and it's also the last day of October anyway my friend George the Hump Day Camel and I want to wish everyone a a hasslefree Stressfree but most importantly a Smokefree day and we're also thinking of our friend and Fellow Exer Nancy ( youngatheart ) this morning for her surgery to be completely successful so she can start the healing process XO love, gentle hug and lots of good thoughts and prayers for you sweet Nancy XO.

My little sister Marion seen the oncologist yesterday and her tests came back negative for cancer she's got another test to do get a second negative then she'll only have to take the HRT'S for five years the Dr said don't worry she's sure it'll also be negative she'll find out for sure in November she had the mastectomy in case she needed chemo and radiation chemo is done in our local hospital but radiation would be almost three hrs away and although she just turned 55 today her health isn't very good and that drive would be too much . On the 13th of February she'll have 8 years in since she quit smoking which was the best decision she ever made it's the best decision that any of us will ever make and it's definetly the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE as difficult as quitting can be it's absolutely Doable and soooooo much better than waiting until we've developed a life threatening illnessthat's most likely smoking related I quit smoking 1,562 glorious days ago for my health and I'm sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance and so can everyone that's quit because as we all stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance than that guarantees us a Smokefree Life and it's super fantastic so if you're struggling hang on tight and don't let go because it'll get easier and easier with time under your belt. ......

It's been a busy October BUT busy is good I guess, I have another appointment tomorrow morning BUT I should have time to post before I leave BUT just in case I don't get the chance don't be concerned I'll post late afternoon or evening let's always remember and N.E.F - Never Ever Forget that life happens whether we smoke or not and choosing Not to Smoke is the best decision that any of us will ever make in our lifetime and it's definetly the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE which I consider the one gift that'll keep on giving day after day week after week month after month and Lord willing year after year and it's vital to our health family and friends but especially our lives which literally depends on us to stick with our quits because another Day ONE would totally suck big time but another Day WON is totally super fantastic ......

But I'll be around sometime in the afternoon this has been a busy month and this coming week is full of appointments at least today I got to pick up Mason for the afternoon which always makes me happy he still enjoys hanging out with Gram and Gramp it's hard to believe he'll be 10 in March Adam will be 15 in March also and Emma just turned 16, they still love us but would rather hang out with their friends than us old fogies  I'm so thankful that I am living a life of Freedom and enjoying quality time without the crutch of cigarettes.....

We went to a wedding last evening which was beautiful there was a reception and dance to follow since I don't drink anymore I drove us home even though I have a hard time driving at night but I took the back way there's a lot less traffic it took 40 minutes instead of 30 but we got home safe and sound and definetly Smokefree because we don't do that anymore   every once in awhile a couple of people would leave the dance area including the bride and groom and when they'd come back in there's no mistaking that scent of them just smoking a cigarette it's a great feeling knowing that I don't smell like a stinky icky ashtray I'm hoping that everyone everywhere decides to bite the bullet and take back their lives from the clutches of the dreaded nicotine poison because it's definetly DOABLE and definetly worth it to be able to go anywhere anytime whenever wherever and however without worrying about where to sneak off to suck on a cancer stick......

Life has a way of kicking us in the teeth at times BUT we must choose to stick with our quits N.M.W. - No Matter What because smoking wouldn't help whatever the situation may be BUT it sure would screw up a perfectly beautiful quit so relapsing isn't the answer at anytime.....

Life really does happen good or bad whether we smoke or not so let's protect the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE by sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance  there's no way we can FAIL our quits must be our # 1 priority in order to live a life of Freedom so each evening we can look ourselves in the mirror and smile and say yay for another Day WON we must continue to choose our quits over whatever may be happening in our lives because relapsing isn't a choice anymore ........

I'm wishing everyone a super fantastic day Smokefree of course whether you're on day one or day one thousand and one today and every day is a great day to be WON .......

I had to snap a pic of the beautiful sunrise this morning life can be pretty fast paced at times so it's really good to slow down every once in awhile and see the beauty around us just to take a deep breath and see the beauty of the Seasons, Fall is my favorite BUT I'm not that keen on Winter BUT it's going to come whether I want it to or not and Spring always follows even though some years it's the end of April or early May when the last of the snow finally melts, I snapped the pic below of the Beech tree in Sam's run with a Maple tree tucked in behind with a couple of the branches peeking out from behind. I thought it was pretty, always remember and N.E.F - Never Ever Forget that by sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance it'll guarantee you a Smokefree Life, I know how difficult it is in those early weeks BUT it's also very Doable and totally worth it to be Free  so if you're struggling with remaining quit please know that we're all here to help you in any way we can BUT you must LET us know by blogging HELP then you need to wait for a few minutes until someone gets on line to help you, deep breaths and know that you can and will be successful in your precious quit journey .....

I smoked for 40 years of roughly 40 cigarettes a day and half heartedly tryed to quit at least a half dozen failed attempts BUT once I found out that I have mild copd that's when I decided to bite and got serious about taking back my life so I got on line and found this site and and read everything I could find out about quitting smoking and remaining quit I set up a quit date BUT I wasn't ready so I reset it and then I totally forgot about this site until my 18th day when I was ready to drive to the store and buy a carton of cigarettes instead of just a pk BUT then I remembered this site and got on line and commented on something and up until that point I'd been lurking in the shadows BUT thankfully I got lots of support and the rest is history.  Quitting smoking is a choice and remaining quit is also a choice BUT boy oh boy it's so worth it to be Free ......

Our quits must never ever be taken for granted so let's always treasure the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE which I consider the one gift that'll keep on giving day after day week after week month after month and Lord willing year after year and it's vital to our health and well-being BUT most importantly our lives! It really doesn't matter where you are in your quit whether it's day ONE or ONE hundred or ONE thousand or whether it's FIVE thousand all that matters is that we never become lazy and complacent with our blessed hard earned quit because we never ever want to have another horrid DAY ONE EVER AGAIN..... Sorry I'm late getting around this morning BUT it's been one of those mornings BUT that's alright because I can deal with life on life's terms without the crutch of cigarettes and that really makes me smile because I know how much easier LIFE is an EXer.

Aaah I feel human this morning even though I had an absolutely fabulous time away with my beautiful daughter Mandy and her hubby and Mason I was still exhausted from helping my sister recuperate from her mastectomy for a week BUT I wouldn't trade doing either, helping my sister was necessary and getting away for an overnighter with family was heavenly and getting to the Gerry Seinfeld show was awesome, I'll tell you laughter really is the best medicine and what a fabulous early birthday gift from my beautiful daughter we had the greatest hotel room with a huge slide and we ate at the Casino NB with the most delicious buffet of everything your heart desires including crab and tons of dessert choices   Mandy and Jason both smoke BUT I Don't because I don't do that anymore and Lord willing they'll decide to join the ranks of being Ex Smokers sooner rather than later so all I can do is show them that I absolutely treasure my beautiful hard earned quit and that obviously quitting smoking is definitely DOABLE BUT it's also a CHOICE that theyll have to make, it's a CHOICE that everyone has to make they both know about this great community because I'll mention it every so often about my ex community friends and how some of us keep in touch by phone or email or pms on the Site and how awesome everyone is and how we help each other so hopefully some DAY some of these tid bits will rub off because they know quitting smoking is necessary BUT they must believe that they can quit smoking and that they can stick with it BUT they must believe it for themselves and if you're reading this and struggling believe that you'll get through it and you Will...... Here's a couple of pics from a couple of months ago of Mandy Jason and Mason , we were so busy having fun this trip that we only took one picture and it's still on Mandy's phone BUT Wow we've got the great memories to treasure.

I'm still EXhausted BUT I'm also EXtremely happy my daughter Mandy and her hubby Jason and our Mason had the best time ever getting away together, I can't remember the last time that I laughed so hard WOW is all I can think of with Mandy taking me to the Gerry Seinfeld comedy fest last night and to the most delicious buffet of everything your heart desires including crab, yum yum yum and yummy plus dozens of desserts to choose from and we had a fantastic hotel room with a great swimming pool with a huge slide which Mason loved and a delicious breakfast buffet this morning plus we did the malls on the way home my ankle is paining BUT I'm icing it while I'm writing this post and I'm smiling because Life is Grand without a Cigarette in Hand so chin up if you're struggling and know that you can and will be successful one precious Smokefree Day at a time or hour minute or even a second at a time believe it and stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance which guarantees you a Smokefree Life we're all here to help you in any way we can as difficult as quitting can be it's absolutely Doable and totally worth it to be Free so hang on tight and don't let go of the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE.....

My daughter Mandy and hubby Jason and our Mason are heading off on a three hour drive for an overnighter in Moncton the Hub City of New Brunswick  about a month ago Mandy called me to tell me to clear my schedule for the 12th of October because she is taking me to the Gerry Seinfeld show which is going to be an early birthday present with a fancy hotel room and a swimming pool with a huge slide which Mason will love so after this morning I won't be back on site until late tomorrow afternoon or evening I'm not taking my tablet, Mandy and Jason both smoke BUT  I Don't  because I don't do that anymore, I'll be keeping them away from my face and all of you can and Lord willing will also keep them away from your face and if you're struggling please remember that the only way out is through but boy oh boy it's so worth it so chin up and keep stacking up those precious DOF and once we've been quit for awhile let's always remember and N.E.F - Never Ever Forget those early days and weeks of quitting smoking because another Day ONE would totally ruin a perfectly beautiful quit UGH for another DAY ONE BUT YAY for each and every Day WON which Rocks and please H.A.L.T - HUNGRY ANGRY LONELY  TIRED, we must look after ourselves because if we don't nobody else can do it for us our quits must be our # 1 priority I know I'm still Exhausted so I will be EXtra Vigilant while enjoying my time away.

LIFE

Posted by Marilyn.H.July.14.14. Oct 11, 2018

Life really does happen whether we smoke or not and choosing NOT is a MUST in order to live a life of FREEDOM It sure is difficult at times of stress and anxiety BUT it's Vital to hang on tight and stay quit there's so many natural disasters happening all over and there seems to be more and more and it's so devastating and heartwrenching even though I'm no where need these devestations my heart hurts and my prayers are going up for everyone to be Safe from Hurricane Michael Lord willing this is it BUT Smoking wouldn't help a blessed thing so relapsing isn't the answer so hang on tight to the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves we must stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance N.M.W.

We all have a choice to quit Smoking or not or to relapse or to keep moving forward and stacking up those precious DOF because our quits are firmly in our grasp I know how difficult it is in those early days and weeks of quitting smoking how at times the cravings can be almost overpowering notice that I said almost because as difficult as it might be it's also very Doable and totally worth it we must stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance which guarantees us a lifetime of Freedom! Oh my gosh Happy Hump Day everyone I've been up since 6 o'clock and my bread is rising in the pans so Mark should enjoy rolls on his lunch break let's always remember and N.E.F  - Never Ever Forget that horrid DAY ONE!!! only DAYS WON will for all of us, YAY for each and every Day WON!!!!

After 7 days and 6 nights of being at my sister Marion's place helping her out I have to admit I'm EXhausted BUT I'm really glad that I could help her out actually there's no one else in our family that could've or would've anyway it always lands on me it's different staying that long somewhere even if it's family because they have their way of doing things and I definitely have mine and sleeping in the living room in a basement apartment was difficult especially with the fridge kicking in and the thumping noises from the apartment above even at midnight Aaah it was EXtremely wonderful to sleep in my own bed last night I slept until almost 8 o'clock  Hopefully Marion's drainage tubes will come out today it was very close yesterday but she's got Red Cross that will do it plus the extra mural nurse will come as well Marion is doing great and wanted her apartment back as badly as I wanted to come home  I feel like I've been on a 3 week drunk but I haven't had a drink in 7 and a half years BUT I still remember that horrid hung over feeling I'm so glad that I don't drink anymore and I'm so glad that I don't smoke anymore as well, Marion lives in a building that allows smoking so every time I stepped into the hallway to do her laundry or whatever it was like stepping into a disgusting icky giant ashtray it was gross BUT yet I have to admit that a couple of times over the week I actually thought of smoking JUST ONE  BUT then reality kicked in because I don't do that anymore, when I was packing up to come home yesterday I noticed a 20 pk of cigarettes underneath the passenger seat in my car I actually opened it up to see if there were any cigarettes in it before I threw it the garbage bin it had to be my daughter's package because she's the only one that smokes that brand and has been in my car lately. Sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance guarantees us a Smokefree Life and I always want to remember and N.E.F  - Never Ever Forget those early days and weeks of quitting smoking because another Day ONE would totally suck big time BUT each and every Day WON is the gift of LIFE !!!!!! Our quits are firmly in our grasp so let's treasure the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves because our lives literally depends on us to look after ourselves because if we don't nobody else can do it for us ........I posted this pic of Marion again she'll be 55 on the 23rd....

If it wasn't for people contemplating quitting and coming here to read and people in their early days and weeks of quitting then there's folks with months and years under their belt and there's so many that stay here to help those contemplating quitting and for those struggling in their early days and weeks of quitting smoking, each and every one of you of US make up this awesome community and I for ONE think whatever is blogged or commented on should not be Deleted that's what I was taught well over four years ago and I believe that's the way it should be! I'm taking a deep breath and I'm going to change the subject my sister Marion is doing well she's in some pain but is managing it quite well alrighty now I want to say hi to our Dale and send you a humongous caring hug from all of us your friends and Fellow Exers, you are family . jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007

I hope everyone has a half decent nights sleep I'm headed off to La la land now I'll be around in the morning.....

Once we've bit the bullet and quit smoking and we've made it through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawals and moodswings and lack of sleep where we've got to that good place in our quits then we must treasure the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!!! LET'S always remember and N.E.F - Never Ever Forget those early days and weeks of our quits because another Day ONE would totally suck big time but another Day WON is super fantastic if you're reading this and you're struggling with remaining quit please know that it's going to get easier and easier with time under your belt but first you have to go through the rough patches to get to that point where you realize how much better life is as an Ex Smoker, sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance guarantees us a Smokefree Life it's absolutely worth it all to be Free so hang tough. My sister Marion is here and doing amazingly well after her mastectomy yesterday she has two drainage tubes in extra murial will be here soon to check on her, I'll be emptying the tubes I'll stay with her until they're out  and I'm sure she'll be ok, my quick blurb ended up being quite long.....

My little sister went to bed at 7 last night and got up at 2 this morning I got up just before 3 she left here with her worker a little after 6, it's a two hour drive to the hospital where she's having her mastectomy done she should be back home late afternoon I need to get in contact with Red Cross this morning and get someone in to fix her brakes on her wheelchair I'm a little weary this morning I brought a fold up cot and I'm sleeping in the living room she's only got a one bedroom apartment and only has a loveseat which is too short for me to sleep on even though I'm not quite 5 feet tall  an extra murial nurse will be here tonight to show me how to empty the drainage tubes, life happens good or bad whether we smoke or not and choosing Not to Smoke is the only way because relapsing isn't an option BUT remaining Smokefree is definitely the only choice plus it's absolutely the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!

I'm heading to my sister's place shortly so I'll  will be there when the extra murial nurse comes to explain things about the mastectomy my sister is having tomorrow morning it's hard to believe they do it in day surgery now I'll be staying with Marion for a few days I'll be taking my tablet so I'll be keeping in touch here as best I can I'm so glad that I don't smoke anymore because I'll be there for my little sister 100 % and not outside under a plume of smoke it's great that I can give her my full attention plus I won't be smelling like a stinky ashtray which is another huge plus Marion was a heavy smoker for roughly 32 years she's been quit for 7 and a half yrs now she's also a recovering alcoholic for over 10 years, she'll be 55 this month we used to do everything together but kind of lost touch with each other because I continued to drink for another 2 and a half years before I finally brightened up as most of you know I have over 4 yrs since I quit smoking and I'll say for myself as well as for all of you as long as we all stick with N.O.P.E and vigilance and keep them away from our face then there's absolutely no way you can FAIL and relapse because no matter how long we've been quit Vigilance is key to a lifetime of Freedom our quits must always be our #1 priority so we can be around to enjoy the little things in life that's actually the the big things in life.....

All of us started with that 1st anxious day ONE and with willingness determination and being totally committed we've made it through and we're all in different stages of our quits BUT we're Smokefree and we'll remain Smokefree by sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance and not letting life's bullcrap get in the way of the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE! So if you're reading this and you're struggling with remaining quit please know that you can and will be successful one precious Smokefree Day at a time or hour minute or even a second at a time believe it deep breaths and keep moving forward and stacking up your precious Days of Freedom so each evening you can look yourself in the mirror and smile and say yay for another Day WON.....
