Quitting smoking is definetly difficult to say the least but it's absoloutely Doable and at some point everyone quits and hopefully it's before it's too late before a Dr. Says I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do for you so get your affairs in order while you're able, quitting Smoking on our terms is the way to do it! Is quitting smoking difficult?  HELL YES! But is Quitting Smoking worth it? HELL YES! Once a person stops and thinks about how long we've been a slave to the dreaded Cancer Sticks then it only stands to reason that it's going to take quite a bit of time to get through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawls and mood swings and to relearn life without that crutch of smoking but it's Doable, we all had to believe it and we had to be willing determined and 100 % committed to succeed. I smoked for 40 yrs and decided to quit once I found out I have mild copd 2 and a half months after my husband quit for the same reason but I thought I was fine and was invincible to smoking related illnesses so that was my wake up call, I Found this site and read everything I could find about this horrid addiction and decided to take back my life and that was well over 3 precious yrs ago!  Was it easy HELL NO! BUT IT SURE WAS WORTH IT BECAUSE NOW I AM FREE! IT'S A CHOICE TO QUIT OR IT'S A CHOICE TO CONTINUE TO SMOKE AND I THINK CONTINUING TO SMOKE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THAT'S PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH YOUR LIFE, I HOPE EVERYONE QUITS WHILE STILL ON THIS SIDE OF THE GRASS!

Once we bite the bullet and finally quit and we finally get to that good place then that's where we make sure that we don't let ourselves get lazy & complacent we can go about our daily routines while remaining Vigilant because our lives are literally depending on us to protect the best gift that we'll ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!  N.O.P.E. - Not  One  Puff  Ever - works when applied on a daily basis, there's definetly life after cigarettes it is there for the taking!

I think yesterday was the best birthday ever making memories with my family and having all three grandchildren for the afternoon getting the Christmas tree and the inside of the house decorated while I just laid back while Mark did the house and Emma the tree, Mason put three ornaments on the tree, Adam did one but that's A ok because everyone was happy and NO Smoke Breaks for this old Gram or Gramp because neither one of us Smoke anymore and it's the best decision we've ever made in our lives or that anyone will ever make in their lives. Quitting is definetly difficult to say the least but it's absoloutely Doable but a person needs to believe in themselves and be willing, determined and totally commited to succeed then they will be successful but of course it'll take some time to get through the rough patches because after 30, 40 or 50 yrs of smoking it only stands to reason that it's bound to take time to relearn life without the crutch of cigarettes but boy oh boy it's sure worth it!  happiness is getting to that good place in your quit when you finally realize that there's definetly after cigarettes and what a awesome feeling it is!

Thank you NewMe and everyone for the birthday wishes, it made my day even more special and having my family over and then keeping the grandkids for the afternoon was perfect, Emma pretty much decorated the tree herself, Mason did three ornaments, Adam did one  but that's fine and I am happy and I am so thankful to be an Ex Smoker because I got to enjoy the day without losing precious time with the grandchildren ,here's a few pics from this afternoon.

Yay I got a half decent nights sleep which is going to make having the grandchildren over for the day so much nicer they're going to decorate the tree and the inside of the house   Gramp & Mason decorated the outside already so it should be a great day and it's snowing now, it was raining at 6:30 this morning. Let's enjoy this day and let's always protect our precious quits with N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever & along with Vigilance guarantees there's no way that we can fail especially once we realize that  - S.I.N.A.O - Smoking Is Not An Option - then we can continue looking in the mirror each evening and smile because of another glorious Day WON! Happiness is those AHA moments!

Mandy and Mason never picked me up until 11 o'clock yesterday and with an hr and a half drive made for a very long day but we had a great lunch and got some shopping done, it was 8:30 before getting home last night and I slept like crap I must have been overtired. Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my hubby Mark, poor guy had a peaceful evening by himself until we got back    sticking with N.O.P.E. & Vigilance totally works, whether we're on Day WON , Day 100, 1,000 or whatever day, month or year as long as we're moving forward stacking up our precious smokefree days we can look ourselves in the mirror each evening smiling and say YAY for another Day WON!

So I have plenty of time to time to say good morning and wish everyone a hasslefree, stressfree but most importantly a smokefree day, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving day with lots of scrumptious food, my favourite part of a huge feed is dessert   please be EXtra vigilant and protect your precious quits because our quits are vital to our quality of life and breathing is essential to living,  It's Black Friday shopping here in Canada too with sales up to 70% off in just about all stores and I hate crowds too but I don't get out with my daughter very often and since it's a PD day Mason gets to come too so my love for them is stronger than my hate for the crowds, thankfully I don't have too much left to buy but I'm looking forward to buying lunch at a nice restaurant. I got to wish my hubby Mark a happy 60th birthday first thing and I should be home around 6 this evening to pamper him a bit, let's always remember N.O.P.E. & Vigilance is Key to a lifetime of Freedom.  because life is grand without a cigarette in hand but in order to get to that point where you realize just how grand it is you must get through the rough patches but believe me when  I say you can but it's going to take some time but it is definetly Doable and so very worth it to be Free!

Happy Thanksgiving evening, I hope everyone had a great day and a great feed and have your feet up relaxing now. I'm going Christmas shopping with my daughter Mandy tomorrow and Mason because it's PD day so there's no school  we're heading off for the day and it's my hubby's 60th birthday as well so I'll pamper him before he goes to work in the morning and when I get home in the evening,  we're shopping an hr and a half away so it'll be a long day but fun. My daughter smokes but I'm secure in my quit and I always remain vigilant while enjoying my Freedom, N.O.P.E. & Vigilance is Key to a lifetime of Freedom, see you sometime tomorrow evening  my daughter and Mason last June on her Birthday.

Wishing each of you a hasslefree, stressfree Thanksgiving day and many blessings for everyone, be EXtra Vigilant so this evening it'll be yay for another Day won, our Thanksgiving here in Canada was the 9th of October but I am  so thankful for this community and all of you my friends and Fellow Exers, Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

There's only 1 more Hump Day in November next week and yikes a week from Friday is December 1st but whoa I'm getting way ahead of myself because first things first because today's Hump Day is my American Friends pre Thanksgiving which I bet is a busy day for most of you getting ready for tomorrow's festivities and a huge Thanksgiving spread. Our Thanksgiving here in Canada was back on the 9th of October but I try to be thankful each day for the many blessings that I'm given. So Happy Pre Thanksgiving to each of you and please be EXtra Vigilant and protect your precious quits, as long as all of us Exers stick with  N.O.P.E. then we'll continue stacking up our Days WON.  because our quits is definetly one thing that we are Thankful for.....

Life is full of choices and choosing to smoke or choosing to quit is a choice that everyone has to make at some point but hopefully the choice is made before it's too late! We all know that smoking kills and I finally quit after 40 yrs of slavery to the nicotine poison when I found out I have mild copd , a lightbulb finally came on in my head and I realized if I didn't quit that I could end up on oxygen 7/24 or worse, I realized that I wasn't invincible and by quitting maybe I could add a few more yrs to my life with a much better quality of living to enjoy life with family and friends especially my grandchildren which were my biggest incentives which kept me plowing forward when the craves seemed almost overpowering! Notice I said almost because with the right mindset quitting smoking is absoloutely Doable and so very worth it, so come here educate yourself by reading everything ypu can about this addiction of smoking because there's a wealth of information to kick the nicotine poison to the curb and take back your life and start living a life of Freedom it's a choice, choose Freedom because each one of us is worth it and each day quit is another glorious Day WON.

I went to bed way too early last night so I woke up way too early but I'm ready to enjoy another day that I'm fortunate enough to be blessed with and being an Ex smoker just makes each day so much more of  a blessing and I know I'm happier once I got through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawls and moodswings and realized that there's definetly life after cigarettes and it was mine for the taking and I finally chose 1,224 glorious days ago to take back my life from the dreaded nicotine poison and it was the best decision i've ever made in my life or ever will make. I wish each and everyone reading this the best day possible, if you haven't quit yet now is the time to take back your and if you are struggling hang on tight and plow through the rough patches and know that each day you get through is another Day Won and it's going to get easier and easier with time under your belt but after decades of smoking it only stands to reason that it's bound to take to relearn life without the crutch of cigarettes, quitting is a choice and boy oh boy choosing Freedom is the right choice.  Stick with N.OP.E. & Vigilance on a daily basis because it keeps us Smokefree.

It's been a long day but a good day for hubby and I, we got some shopping done and bought a new artificial Christmas tree 61/2 ft tall with the lights built in so we got new garland for it, next Sunday we'll get all three grandchildren over to decorate it and the inside of the house as well we've created a tradition over the last few years. Adam isn't really interested but he'll put an ornament or two on the tree to make me happy he's almost 14 so I'm pleased that he still comes, Mason being 8 still enjoys decorating, Emma is 15  and being a girl loves doing it and next Sunday is my birthday so it's even more special to me getting everyone together this coming Friday is my hubby's birthday he'll be 60, I have a couple of yrs before the big 60. I am so happy being an Ex Smoker and having well over 3 yrs in since quitting but I'll remain vigilant and protect the best gift that I'll ever give myself which is the gift of Life so I always want to remember my day One and the early days and wks that followed because going back is not happening. We all can and will continue stacking up our glorious Days WON! Saying YES TO FREEDOM!   Quitting smoking is definetly difficult but it's absoloutely Doable and so very worth it to be Free so hang on tight and don't let go until you come out the other side smiling.  so hang tough and keep plowing forward. The bottom pic is from decorating day last Christmas, I know many of you have seen it before but quite a few new folks here so I thought I'd repost it.

My hubby and I are going Christmas shopping tomorrow and having lunch out so I thought I'd let you know so you won't wonder where I am I wish each of you a decent nights sleep with lots of Zzzzzzzzzz's and I hope I get a few too.

There's definetly life after cigarettes and once we decide to bite the bullet and take back our lives from the dreaded nicotine poison and do the recommended reading to educate our ourselves on this horrid addiction because there's a wealth of information here to strenghen your resolve to kick the cancer sticks to the curb and start living a smoke free life. Once we think about how many decades we smoked and for me it was 40 yrs then we realize it only stands to reason it's bound to take some time to get through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawls and moodswings to get to that good place in your quit and the only way to get there is through but it is very Doable and so very worth it so by believing in yourself and being willing, determined and 100% committed you can persevere through and start reaping the benefits of an Ex Smoker, every day we get through is another Day WON.  I for one say Life is grand without a cigarette in hand.

Believing in ourselves along with being willing, determined and totally committed to succeeding in whatever we may be doing is key in being successful and quitting smoking should be at the top of the list of things to do because our lives are literally depending on us to quit and stick to it with N.O.P.E. and vigilance and believe it or not life does get easier and easier with time under our belts but with decades of smoking you have to realize that it is going to take time to get through the rough patches and it also takes to relearn life without the crutch of cigarettes but boy oh boy it is absoloutely worth it so keep stacking up those precious Days WON....

Good Morning....

Posted by Marilyn.H.July.14.14. Nov 12, 2017

I am thankful for another day that I've been blessed to wake up to plus we're picking up  our 13 yr old  grandson Adam  this morning and we will get to see our 15 yr old step granddaughter Emma too and our 8 yr old grandson Mason, Emma's half brother is coming this afternoon to spend the night and with no school tomorrow it will be great. Life is good even on bad days because it sure beats the alternative all to pieces, since quitting well over three yrs ago I can normally start functioning on a few sips of coffee instead of four or five cups and five or six cigarettes it is great so quit if you haven't already and if you are struggling please keep moving forward because it will get easier with more time under your belt but you must stick with your quit so hang on tight because N.O.P.E. and Vigilance works on a daily basis. I do remember my roller coaster ups and downs of mood swings and the horrid craves that seemed to come out of nowhere so I pray that I'll - N.E.F. - Never Ever Forget  - the early days and wks of quitting smoking because I'm never going back to Day ONE all of us EXERS need to keep stacking up our PRECIOUS DAYS WON! There's definetly life after cigarettes so hold on tight and don't let go until you come out the other side smiling.  I've been a happy quitter for a long, long time now and it is super fantastic.

I am Thankful

Posted by Marilyn.H.July.14.14. Nov 11, 2017

I say thank you to all Veterans for my Freedom and I'm thankful that I quit smoking so I can hopefully enjoy a better quality of life since kicking the nicotine poison to the curb and not take my life for granted because none of us are invincible and by quitting smoking we just might have a few more years of Freedom! Life is way too short to knowingly continue to suck on the disgusting cancer sticks, instead let's embrace our quits and stay Smokefree, it's an awesome journey definetly worth taking.....

Once we make up our minds to quit smoking and believe in ourselves and are willing, determined and commited to go through whatever rollercoaster ups and downs that are thrown at us and stand firm in hanging on tight to our quit because we made sure we had the right mindset by educating ourselves on this horrid addiction so we would succeed in kicking the nicotine poison to the curb and start living a smoke free life, yay for N.O.P. E. & Vigilance  because S.I.N.A.O. - Life Is Grand Without A Cigarette  In Hand .

Sticking with N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever & VIGILANCE will give all of us a beautiful smokefree life we all started at DAY WON & we're all at different stages of our quits on this awesome journey which we must protect & nurture I hope we'll always remember DAY ONE & that we'll - N.E.F. - Never Ever Forget - those early days & weeks, whether you're on Day Won, Days Won, Wks Won, Months or Yrs Won as Dale says keep them away from our face. because S.I.N.A.O. - Smoking Is Not An Option. Believing in ourselves and being willing, determined & totally commited is how we keep stacking up those precious WON!

If a person takes the time to stop to think about how many decades they smoked then it only stands to reason that it's going to take some time to get through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawals and mood swings and to relearn life without the crutch of smoking, I smoked for 40 yrs and in the first few days and wks of quitting there were some days that I'd blatt like a baby one moment and the next I'd feel like screaming or maybe I'd want to rip my hair out or tear someone's face off, I actually found this site back in June of 2014 and read everything I could to educate myself on this horrid addiction and set up my quit date but when it arrived I wasn't ready so I reset it for the 14th of July 2014 and stuck with it but for some reason I didn't return to the site until my 18th day when I was struggling to the point of jumping in my car and buying a carton of cigarettes instead of just a pack thankfully I remembered this site and got on line and commented on something for the 1st time because I was hiding in the shadows up to that point so someone said I should write a blog and say a little bit about myself and my quit and the rest is history. Our lives are way too short to knowingly continue to slowly kill ourselves and relapsing isn't an option at all so quitting smoking and Remaining Quit is the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves our health, family and even our wallets will be happy we are Exers so as Dale says keep them away from your face and the only way is through. Stick with N.O.P.E. and vigilance because S.I.N.A.O and H. A. L.T

I hang on tight and enjoy every moment of my quit because going backward's to another DAY ONE isn't happening so let's always remain vigilant while going about our daily lives because Freedom Rocks and the Slavery to the disgusting Cancer Sticks totally Sucks Big Time and I'm never going back so let's - N.E.F - Never Ever Forget the early days and wks of quitting smoking because if we stick to N. O. P. E.  - Not One Puff Ever - along with Vigilance on a daily basis then we can have a wonderful smoke free life because S.I.N.A.O  - Smoking Is Not An Option plus life really does get easier and easier with time under our belts and our lives literally depends on us to stick with our quits.  Quitting Smoking is definitely difficult but it's absolutely Doable and and definitely worth it to be FREE.....

I really am so glad that I finally wised up and took back my life from the clutches of the dreaded nicotine poison because I don't have to sneak off every 20 minutes or so to find a corner outside somewhere in the rain, sleet, snow or whatever sucking on a cancer stick to possibly cough  choke and nearly hork up a lung or possibly both! But instead I say yay for 1,210 glorious, humongous, ginormous, stupendous, spectacular, fantastic, fabulous ,splendiforous, wonderful, precious smoke free days ago I began stacking up those precious Days WON and believe me or not, life really does get easier and easier with time under your belt so chin up and grab onto the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE because there's definitely life after cigarettes and it's yours for the taking but you must stick with your quit! I had a wonderful afternoon and evening with my Dad yesterday, I spent the night and enjoyed his 81st birthday with him today , I took him and my sister out for lunch and no Smoke breaks whatsoever because I don't do that anymore and I say YAY for another DAY WON! N.O.P.E and vigilance works when applied on a daily basis,

I know that I must sound like a broken record for pushing N.O.P.E and vigilance but I know through my own EXperience of relapsing several times either through 1 to many drinks or because of weight gain or thinking that just 1 is OK which was bull but the bottom line was a couple of decades ago when I was playing Russian Roulette with quitting smoking that I was only half heartedly ready otherwise I'd be like in my 23rd of year of being smokefree but this quit was & is my Forever Quit because I realized by finding out that I have mild copd that I'm not invincible that I could actually die a slow painful death which would most likely be smoking related and the nicotine poison doesn't care what life it's going to choose to give cancer too or stick on oxygen 7/ 24 so I finally bit the bullet and took back my life while I still was able to and now I push vigilance just as much for me as for all of you so please let's always protect the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE because S.I.N.A.O - Smoking Is Not An Option - our health, family and friends are counting on us remaining quit and it's absolutely Doable and and definitely worth it.  if you're reading this and haven't quit yet now is the time to do so educate yourself by reading everything you can about quitting smoking and Remaining Quit because there's a wealth of information to strengthen your resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb and if you are struggling be sure to blog HELP so we can help you through the rough patches so chin up and hang on tight and continue stacking up those precious Days WON.....Oops before I forget It will be late afternoon before I get on line tomorrow, I'm spending the night at my Dad's so I can pamper him tomorrow on his 81st birthday so have a great day, smokefree of course because life happens whether we smoke or not so let's always choose NOT.....

Whether we're on Day WON, day 100,  day 1,000 or where I'm at today which is 1,208 and counting wherever we're at in our quit journey let's - N. E. F. - Never Ever Forget our Day ONE! And the early days and wks of quitting smoking which should keep us from being complacent and lazy because we never ever want to act on the Thought of aaah, geesh surely just ONE WON'T HURT! Because we know that's a downright LIE!  So  sticking with N.O.P.E and vigilance is key because S.I.N.A.O. - Smoking Is Not An Option, taking EXtra good care of ourselves is important as well - H. A. L. T.  - Hunger, Anger, Lonely , Tired - because anyone of these can really screw up a perfectly beautiful quit. Freedom Rocks so let's continue to protect the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!

Whether you're on Day WON or Days WON or wks or months WON as long as you keep moving forward and stacking up your precious smoke free days then it's going to be years WON and it's going to happen one precious smoke free day at a time or one hour, minute or even one second at a time but it will happen but you must stick with your quit, I'm running late this morning so I better get moving but remember N.O.P.E and vigilance because S.I.N.A.O because smoking kills and quitting should give you a much better quality of life and breathing is essential to living!

It's  always a great day to say yes to Freedom and today is November 1st plus it's Hump Day so if you haven't already quit smoking today is a fantastic day to read everything you can about quitting smoking and Remaining Quit because there's a wealth of information here to strengthen your resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb and start living life without the crutch of the dreaded nicotine poison or if you're struggling keep plowing forward because there's definitely life after cigarettes and it's yours for the taking but you must stick with your quit and keep stacking up your precious Days WON, it's an individual decision to quit smoking but it's absolutely the right choice in my opinion because I held on tight to my quit and plowed through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawals and mood swings and came out the other side smiling and became a Happy Quitter and I'm never going back to Day One only Days WON! Quitting smoking is definitely difficult to say the least but it's absolutely Doable......
