2017

We've got the sunshine this morning but it was only 29°F first thing and the house was only 56 brrrrrr because we didn't bother starting a fire last night but hubby wasn't long getting one going this morning. I got to call over and see if my oldest grandson Adam still wants to come for the day, he's 13 now and hasn't been coming as regular and he's also got a girlfriend wow. Mason will be here this afternoon and overnight and we'll get him to school and he'll be staying tomorrow night as well and getting off the bus here Tuesday, he's 8 but still loves being here so we're going to enjoy every moment we can while we can and I'm soooooooo happy that I finally wised up and took back my life so I can enjoy life with the grandchildren and not waste their visits by standing outside sucking on a cancer stick, life is way too short to knowingly continue to slowly kill ourselves so if you are reading this and haven't quit smoking yet now is the time to bite the bullet and stop playing Russian Roulette with your life read everything you can about quitting smoking and Remaining Quit because there's a wealth of information here to strengthen your resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb, quitting  smoking is definitely difficult but very Doable and worth it all to be FREE so grab on tight and don't let go until you get through the rough patches then you will realize that there's life after cigarettes and it's super fantastic each day you get through is another day WON! N.O.P.E really works when applied on a daily basis along with vigilance! One precious smoke free day at a time will give you a beautiful smoke free life........

It's great fun throwing in our unsmoked cigarettes into the bonfire because it's a huge sense of accomplishment of being Free and knowing that we don't need or want those death sticks anymore is EXhilarating ,whether it's 100, 1000, 10,000 or less or more it's super fantastic to toss those yuckies in the bonfire and smile because we've taken back our lives from the clutches of the dreaded cancer sticks, stay free, be free, live free, Freedom Rocks because we kicked that crutch to oblivion and now we enjoy our smoke free lives while remaining vigilant, life is grand without a cigarette in hand, yay for all of us Exers!

I learned - N.O.P.E  - Not One Puff Ever - right here on this site and had to ask what it meant and I lived by it every day and I always will because it works along with N.E.F  - Never Ever Forget  - the early days and wks of quitting smoking because another Day ONE would really suck big time but another DAY WON really rocks and if you really stop to think about it - S.I.N.A.O  - Smoking is not an option - and if we take EXtra good care of ourselves by  - H.A.L.T.  - Hunger, Anger, lonely, tired  - should help get you through the rough patches a little easier. Quitting smoking is definitely difficult to say the least but boy oh boy it's absolutely Doable and so very worth it to be able to go anywhere, anytime, whenever, wherever and however without the crutch of smoking, I may be a broken record when it comes to quitting smoking but I want everyone to hang on tight and keep moving forward and stacking up those precious smoke free and to be FREE and reap all of the wonderful benefits of being an Exer but you must go through whatever cravings and whatever else first but you can and will be successful one precious smoke free day at a time.   quitting Smoking can be hair pulling at times but it won't kill you but continuing to smoke could, chin up and hang on tight to the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!

For the Mon to Fri working people it's you guessed it, Hump Day  my husband Mark likes it when Wednesdays roll away and by the way he was very appreciative of the congrats that some of you gave him yesterday on my morning blog on his 3 yrs of smoke free living. Spring has definitely Sprung here in the Maritimes it rained all night and it's going to rain all day and into the night but that's A OK because it's going to get rid of the little bit of scuzzy snowbanks that's left as well as the snow in the woods yay! Whether we're happy, sad, stressed, angry, perplexed or whatever else we may be feeling just remember that you don't smoke anymore , life and emotions happen whether we smoke or not so let's always choose to protect the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!

Marilyn

Today my husband Mark has 3 glorious yrs in since quitting smoking after 42 yrs of being a slave to the disgusting Cancer Sticks he knew it was time he coughed so much for the last couple of yrs , sometimes at night he coughed so hard that I'd wait for him to catch his breath before I could try and get back to sleep. He quit for health reasons even before he found out he has mild emphysema he didn't like the cough and knew he needed to quit, it sure wasn't easy for him or for me 2 and a half months later or for anyone on this site or in this world but it's definitely Doable and worth it all to be FREE if anyone of us wants something bad enough then we'll put the time and effort into it until we get it and that's how we went after our quits because we wanted it more than anything else on the face of this earth so we went after it and grabbed on tight and didn't let go until we knew that we were through the roughest patches and we knew we were winning the war against the nicotine poison not just the battle but the war, remember that Freedom is yours for the taking reach out and grab it and don't let go being Smoke Free is the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!

I never realized that 40 yrs of smoking played havoc with my emotions until I quit , hummmmm that's because I buried most of them by smoking whether I was happy, sad, stressed, angry, perplexed or whatever but stress and anxiety were the worst for me and it wasn't until I had some time in with my quit that realized I had to figure out how to deal with these feelings without the crutch of cigarettes. It definitely takes awhile because every waking moment was circled around a smoke right? I know that the phone was the hardest because I'd take the cordless outside and yap on the phone with the  cancer sticks, I switched cars before quitting but I knew I was going to and the used car we bought  was never smoked in so thankfully I had that habit under control before my day 1, this site taught me soooooooo much about this horrid addiction and by reading everything I could before my quit date it gave me the strength and the resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb and start living a life of Freedom but I did it and everyone must do it one precious smoke free day at a time getting out of the fog and actually being able to have thoughts and emotions without the crutch is pretty nice and I'm never going back into the fog because I enjoy being free way too much and each evening knowing that another Day WON is under my belt makes me smile. and N.O. P. E.  - Not One Puff Ever  - is giving me this great smoke free life along with vigilance to stay free because S.I.N.A.O - Smoking is not an option!

Marilyn

The 1st few days and wks of quitting smoking wasn't easy for any of us Exers, I sure know for me that it wasn't!  N.E.F.  -Never Ever Forget  -   this is one of the mantras that I learned here and it's definitely a good one because once we get through the hair pulling ups and downs of the roller coaster ride life is still going to have ups and downs  but we can and will relearn different ways of dealing with life's issues without the crutch of smoking so hang tough, I still get thoughts every so often that I think hummmmm surely just one won't hurt, thankfully because of this site and everything I've read here plus my half dozen failed attempts at quitting I know better and I really love my life as an Ex Smoker so for me and for every Exer vigilance is key to living a life of Freedom! yay for each DAY THAT IS WON!

Marilyn

We had a pretty easy winter this year up until February and now, Mother Nature is in a snit and doesn't want to spread Spring to everyone but hopefully we'll get some Spring before Summer comes.  but seriously though this snow should melt off later on today once the temps rises and I believe tomorrows supposed to be gorgeous and besides smoking won't change the weather or anything in life other than totally screw up a perfectly beautiful quit so protect your quit with your life and I promise that I will too because our lives literally depends on us remaining smoke free, there's things in this world that we have no control over but we do have control over our quits and we have that choice whether we smoke or not so please choose not!

If & when you hit a horrendous craving and you're ready to give up that's the time to take a deep breath and remember why you are quitting smoking in the first place, stick with your commitment to yourself, believe in yourself, be willing, determined and totally committed to hang onto the best gift that you'll ever give yourself which is the gift of LIFE! Quitting smoking is definitely difficult to say the least and at times the cravings and ups and downs of mood swings can feel almost overpowering notice I said almost, quitting smoking won't kill you but continuing to smoke knowing that it just might kill you is definitely reason enough to stick with your quit hang on tight and keep plowing forward because it's going to take some time but it's absolutely Doable and and soooooooo very worth it all to be FREE!

This is April 20th and yikes look what I woke up to but I won't smoke over it and this won't last long! I'll stick with N.O.P.E  because I love my Freedom and tossing my quit away isn't an option so let's enjoy another Smoke free Day! Stick with your quits and protect it and nurture it because your lives all of our lives literally depends on us to remain quit!!!!

Happy Hump Day everyone! I was thinking of words that rhyme with stink this morning and this silly little ditty is what  my warped mind came up with  when you have strong urges and are considering throwing your hard earned quit away - STOP & THINK & READ THE RECOMMENDED LINKS PROVIDED HERE SO YOU WON'T STINK & AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU CAN LOOK YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR & WINK BECAUSE YOU MADE IT THROUGH ANOTHER DAY WON! I'M A STRANGE ONE  that's for sure but I want everyone reading this that's either on the fence about quitting smoking or anyone that may be struggling to know that you can and will be successful in quitting but unfortunately you must go through the ups and downs of withdrawals and mood swings first but it's so worth it to be able to go anywhere, anytime, whenever, wherever and however without the crutch of smoking so don't throw your hands up in the air and give up instead continue to move forward and get through the rough patches and come out the other side smiling because if you want to be FREE then you must  hang on tight, hang tough, stick with your quit and keep stacking up those precious smoke free days.

Marilyn

If you are on the fence about quitting smoking and are waiting for the right time to take back your life, I don't believe that they'll ever be a the right time because life's going to continue to happen whether it's good or bad and continuing to slowly kill yourself isn't a good idea at all so maybe start reading here again and get that positive attitude back, chin up and know in the bottom of your heart that you can quit smoking, believe it and bite the bullet, quit playing Russian Roulette with your life because there's definitely life after cigarettes and we're all here for each and everyone of you who's wants to be free from the clutches of the dreaded nicotine poison, you must want it more than anything on the face of this earth so reach out and grab it, don't let go because Freedom is yours for the taking so hang on tight and get through the roller coaster ups and downs and come out the other side reaping the benefits of an Ex Smoker!

A very Happy Birthday to you freeneasy ,wishing you a super fantastic evening my friend and fellow Exer, you are celebrating 5 glorious smoke free birthdays and that's totally splendiforous. ☆

I hope everyone made it through the Easter weekend with more Days WON and this evening will be adding another on or maybe it's someone's 1st Day WON but whatever day you are on just know that Quitting Smoking so very Doable but also very frustrating and definitely hair pulling at times believe me when I say I had some major cravings in the first few days, wks and even into the first couple of months where one minute I might be laughing and the next I would be blatting like a baby nobody wanted to be around me and never thought I'd actually quit smoking because of so many failed attempts at trying to quit, emphasis on trying because this time I was prepared because of all the reading getting educated on this horrid tobacco addiction and from all of the reading here I learned how to kick the nicotine poison to the curb and how to leave it there forever and I learned that my half dozen failed attempts in the past failed because I wasn't willing, determined or totally committed to go through the rough patches that I was probably looking for an excuse to fail but not this time. This site showed me how to believe in myself and how to be successful one precious smoke free day at a time so chin up,hang on tight, keep moving forward and stacking up those splendiforous DOF!

Let's celebrate this day with the right mindset and let's not let any stress trying to get an Easter meal ready for family and friends or making sure the house is spotless because those things are trivial when it comes to the meaning of Easter Sunday plus we don't need to cause any unnecessary stress to our quits, celebrate this day and this evening we can add another DAY WON to our precious quit because Smoke Free is the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE! Happy Easter everyone I need to get a few things done before church which is early this morning, hubby was up and down to the church at 6 am helping to cook a breakfast for our community but I opted to stay home and just go to the church service.

It was a beautiful day and being an Exer makes it so much better because I'm not polluting the air with the stench of smoke but most importantly I'm not breathing in the nicotine poison anymore and polluting my organs, I can actually enjoy being outside without the crutch. I didn't do much of anything today except relax and watch hubby clean up some of the garden beds from last Fall, we've only got the snowbanks left and they're melting fast. We may get freezing rain by morning rain throughout the day and possibly snow tomorrow night but it won't stay.

Life is full of ups and downs, good times and bad times and life is going to happen whether we smoke or not and I always figured that I just couldn't quit and I wasn't even sure if I really wanted to but when I finally wised up and figured out that I wasn't invincible that I could actually die a slow painful death that's most likely caused by smoking, I think when I found out that I have mild copd that a light bulb came on in my head and thankfully I brightened up and found this site and read everything I could to strengthen my resolve. Quitting smoking is definitely difficult but with the right mindset it's absolutely Doable but you must want it and you need to believe in yourself and be willing, determined and totally committed to succeed and you can and will be successful one precious smoke free day at a time, is it easy? HELL NO!!! is it worth it? HELL YES!!!   It's within your grasp so grab on and hold on tight and don't let go until you are through the roller coaster ups and downs then you can start reaping the benefits of an Ex Smoker. I always push vigilance because once we have the Freedom we don't want to - N.E.F  - Never Ever Forget  - the early days and wks of our quits because once we're Free we know that Life is Grand Without A Cigarette In Hand and another Day ONE would really suck big time but but Another Day WON is totally awesome!

It's a beautiful sunshiny morning at 38 degrees but it's supposed to go up to 50 so I'll take it, hubby helped stir up a batch of bread, I got it all kneaded down and in the bowl I want to get it baked as early as possible so I can get outside, if anyone is reading this and is struggling with your quit please continue reading everything you can here about quitting smoking and Remaining Quit because there's a wealth of information to strengthen your resolve to keep moving forward and stacking up your precious smoke free days, there's going to be tough days whether you smoke or not so get through the rollercoaster ups and downs and come out the other side smiling. Quitting smoking is definitely difficult to say the least but it's absolutely Doable and and quitting definitely won't kill you but continuing to smoke just might so bite the bullet and hang on tight to the most important gift that you'll ever give yourself which is the gift of LIFE and remember that anything in this life worth having takes time and effort and quitting smoking and Remaining Quit is at the top of the list so hang on tight because there's absolutely life after cigarettes but you must stick with your quit and relearn different ways of dealing with life's issues without the crutch of smoking!

I guess now we'll have a moderator check our blogs before they're published but if it'll keep the Spammers away then go for it! Wishing each and everyone of you who's reading this a stressfree, hasslefree and most importantly a smokefree afternoon and evening, if you are having a rough day take a deep breath and know that you can and will make it through the craves and this evening you can look in the mirror and smile because yay for another day WON! - N.O.P.E - Not One Puff Ever  - really works when applied on a daily basis. Keep moving forward and stacking up your precious smoke free days because S.I.N.A.O  - Smoking Is Not An Option  - N. E. F.  -  Never Ever Forget  -  the early days and wks of quitting because another day ONE would really suck big time , H. A. L. T.  - Hunger, Anger, lonely, tired  - taking EXtra good care of ourselves helps us to stay strong so we can protect the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE! There's absolutely life after cigarettes but you must stick with your quit so you can get through the rough patches and come out the other side smiling reaping the benefits of an Ex Smoker.

Marilyn

Even if you are having horrid craves back to back, stay positive get busy because this is when you hang tough and protect your quit and know that you can and will get through these rough patches do whatever you need to do so this evening you can say another DAY WON, it's not easy when these horrendous cravings come on but they won't kill you but smoking most likely will so hang on tight because each day you get through should start to get easier but unfortunately you must go through the rough patches first but it's worth it all to be able to go anywhere, anytime, whenever, wherever and however without the crutch of smoking, keep moving forward and protect the best gift that you will ever give yourself which is the gift of LIFE stay QUIT and before too long you can start reaping the benefits of an Ex Smoker.

Quitting smoking is so very Doable and worth all of the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawals and mood swings and whatever else you need to go through to get to that good place in your quit, yes it's definitely difficult in the early days, wks and even the first couple of months or so but anything in this life worth having takes time and effort and quitting smoking is definitely at the top of the list of things that need to be done in order to live a healthier lifestyle. It's going to take some time to relearn different ways of dealing with life's issues without the crutch of smoking but don't forget how many decades that you've been smoking so it only stands to reason that it's going to take time to take back your life but if you want to quit smoking and Remain quit then you need to believe in yourself, be willing, determined and totally committed to succeed and you can and will be successful one precious smoke free day at a time!

It's Friday!

Posted by Marilyn.H.July.14.14. Apr 7, 2017

I'm Wishing each of you my friends and fellow Exers a relaxing, stressfree but most importantly a smokefree day even if you're in the throws of a horrendous craving as long as you believe that you will get through it then you will, even if you have several cravings back to back you can go with the flow and get through them, believe it or not I remember the roller coaster ups and downs vividly. That's probably one of the main reasons for pushing vigilance because it's just as much for me as well as you and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Quitting Smoking is definitely difficult to say the least  but I also know through experience that it's absolutely Doable but I'll always remain vigilant while enjoying my Freedom and so can you, we must - N. E. F.  - Never Ever Forget the early days and wks - as long as we live by N.O.P.E  - Not One Puff Ever  - then how can we fail ? - S.I.N.A.O  - Smoking is not an option  - H. A. L. T.  - Hunger, Anger, Lonely, Tired  - let's take EXtra good care of ourselves so we can enjoy being FREE.

It's a dark, dank, dreary, dismal, day but yay it's 33 ° F degrees and that makes me happy plus we're going to get quite a bit of rain tonight and tomorrow then our Temps are supposed to be above normal for this time of year which for us in the Maritime Provinces is the low to mid 50's so I'll definitely be smiling and I won't be smoking over the rain or the above normal temps. In the early days, wks and even the first couple of months or so when something disappointing or EXciting happened one of my first thoughts would be l need a cigarette and it was like NO I don't do that anymore and even now heading for 33 months of my quit with some Spring weather finally coming my way it's like hummmmm wouldn't a cigarette be really nice right Now but whew thankfully it's only a thought and I most definitely don't want one but if I happened to be around my daughter or someone else that smokes and if I wasn't thinking and had the thought of just having one and DID actually pick one up and light it and take that drag and after all of this time of being quit, I would most likely nearly cough, choke and nearly hork up a lung or possibly both over a disgusting cancer stick, NO way, NO how will I allow that to happen because I treasure my Freedom way too much and this is where VIGILANCE COMES IN!!!!!! Having a craving or a thought of smoking doesn't mean that we need to do it, definitely not. I had horrid craves in the beginning and a few times when I had no choice and had to be around a Smoker I almost sat down with my hands underneath me but hey I would do whatever it takes to remain quit and so can each and everyone of us because we are EXERS AND FREEDOM ROCKS!  losing our hard earned quits would totally suck big time so hang on tight to the best gift that any of us will ever give ourselves which is the gift of LIFE!

I'm definitely waiting very impatiently for Spring but according to the weather forecasts it's supposed to arrive possibly over the weekend with lots of rain but hey thankfully I'm secure in my quit because Smoking isn't even a blimp on my radar because I don't do that anymore plus being vigilant is key to success! Because snow sucks big time but relapsing would suck even worse! Freedom Rocks! And the white crap is melting!

With the right mindset we can do just about anything we put our minds to including quitting smoking and Remaining Quit, life is way too short to knowingly continue to slowly kill yourself so come on over and join the ranks of being an Exer, read everything you can right here on this site because there's a wealth of information to help strengthen your resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb and start living a life of Freedom because there's definitely life after cigarettes but you must believe in yourself, be willing, determined and totally committed to succeed and you can and will be successful one precious smoke free day at a time!

Marilyn

It's starting out a sunshiny day but it's supposed to rain this afternoon then switch to snow overnight but switch back over to showers tomorrow but there's no smoking over the weather or anything else for that matter because smoking would only screw up my perfectly beautiful quit plus Spring is definitely heading my way sooner or later, mind you I prefer Sooner!  anyway I need to get moving this morning so I wish each of you reading this a stressfree, hasslefree and most importantly a smokefree day because once you get through the ups and downs of withdrawals and mood swings and roller coaster ups and downs of quitting smoking then you can start to reap the benefits of an Ex Smoker but unfortunately you must go through the rough times first but believe me when I say

there's definitely life after cigarettes but if you don't believe me then why not stay quit for 3 months actually 4 would be perfect because by then you should be wondering what took you so long to take back your life and you should be enjoying your new found Freedom. Hang on tight to the best gift that you will ever give yourself which is the gift of LIFE, a much better quality of living is yours for the taking so continue to move forward stacking up those precious smoke free days.

I've been up since 6:30 but I guess I've been dragging my butt and really not getting a blessed thing done so it's three hrs later and I'd better get moving so if you're hiding in the shadows reading this debating whether it's time to quit smoking, please continue to read everything you can about quitting smoking because now is the time to bite the bullet and stop playing Russian Roulette with your life, quit now while you're still vertical and if you are having a difficult time with your quit then stay close to this site and hang on tight, keep moving forward stacking up your precious DOF because the longer you remain smoke free then the easier it will get but you must go through the rough patches first then you can start to reap the benefits of an Ex Smoker because there's definitely life after cigarettes but you must stick with your quit so you can see it for yourself!

Once you get through the roller coaster ups and downs of withdrawals and mood swings to come out the other side smiling which takes time of  course to get to that good place where a light bulb comes on in your head and you have that wow, what took me so long moment?.If I'm remembering correctly I believe it was somewhere between 3 1/2 months and 4 months that I realized that I was actually a Happy Quitter and I was going to protect my precious quit with my life because my life literally needs me to remain nicotine free. It took me 40 yrs of slavery to the disgusting Cancer Sticks and finding out that I have mild copd to realize that I'm not invincible that I could end up on oxygen 7/ 24 or worse die a slow painful death that's most likely smoking related and now I'll have 3 glorious yrs of Freedom the middle of July, stick close to this site and read everything you can about quitting smoking and Remaining Quit because there's a wealth of information here to strengthen your resolve to Kick the Nicotine Poison to the Curb, when I found this awesome site l read blogs, comments and pages on people's profiles and hid in the Shadows for quite awhile but when I finally commented and let myself be known you were all here to welcome me and get me through the rough patches and come out the other side a very Happy Ex Smoker with hopefully many more years of enjoying a much better quality of living.

I'm on my 992nd day of this glorious journey of my most precious gift that I've ever or ever will give myself and that is my quit and that's definitely not an April Fools joke my friends or fellow Exers and there's many many more Exers here that have many yrs under their belts and there's many that are just starting this wonderful journey and then there's those folks that are on the fence debating whether to quit or not and I say read everything you can about quitting smoking and Remaining Quit because there's a wealth of information here to strengthen your resolve to kick the nicotine poison to the curb now is definitely the time to bite the bullet and stop playing Russian Roulette with your life because life is way too short to knowingly continue to slowly kill yourself so prepare yourself for Day One so at the end of your first day you can say YAY FOR DAY WON and start to stack up your spectacular days of Freedom. I never thought in a million years that I could quit smoking but I decided that I wanted to be vertical and live a life of Freedom, you must believe in yourself, be willing, determined and totally committed to succeed and you can and will be successful one precious smoke free day at a time, is it easy to quit?  HELL NO! But is it worth it?  HELL YES!  And with the right mindset we can do just about anything and quitting smoking is definitely at the top of the list so if you haven't quit yet come join the ranks of being an Ex Smoker and if you are having a rough patch please keep plowing forward because there's definitely life after cigarettes and it's super fantastic ,hang on tight Victory is around one of those corners up ahead and it's not that far off and that's also not an April Fools Joke! Life really does get easier and easier as time goes on but unfortunately you must go through the roller coaster ups and downs first to get to that good place in your quit.
