Last March my husband Mark had a Doctors appointment, a complete check up with chest xrays, they needed a second chest xray which concerned us a little, my husband decided he would quit smoking so he started cutting back on smoking. Another week passed and we got a call from that he needed a cat scan now I am worried anyway he had the cat scan and saw the doctor and found out he has the start of emphysema. He was pleased to tell the Dr he had one month in at that point. He quit April 25/14 . I had a check up with chest xrays and they came back great, right on. I went to a specialist about a nodule on my thyroid which the doctor wasn't concerned about he listened to my lungs and didn't like the sound of my lungs and set me up with a breathing test which I had the beginning of July and I flunked it and found out I have copd. I was surprised because my chest xrays were good, I have learned a lot since then. I set my quit date for the 7th of July but I wasn't ready so I reset it for July 14th and the rest is history. I didn't think I had any problems with my lungs I was worried for my husband about 3 wks after my quit is when I noticed I winded easy, I never noticed while I was smoking. I still find that I get out of puff easy after 129 of not smoking but I am not putting anymore poison into my lungs. 1 smoked almost 40 yrs now I choose the rest of my life to be smoke free and maybe live a better quality of life. The time to quit smoking is now, quit smoking for your health .

I'm a proud Gram of 2 grandsons and a granddaughter and I consider myself a jack of all trades and a master of none, plus I enjoy reading and being outside and since quitting smoking breathing is so much easier because I'm not coughing half of my time sucking on a cancer stick....
