Be willing to educate yourself about nicotine addiction

Believe in yourself

Be Determined

Be Committed

Be Mindful

Challenge yourself

Stay Close

Don't give up

Don't give in

Drinking and smoking don't mix early on

Smoking should no longer be an option (SINAO)

Do it for yourself

Give yourself the gift of life

Happy Sad Day

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jan 23, 2017

When your sister-in-law passes on your birthday it can be called a happy sad day.  It is a day filled with mixed emotions but with confidence I will not smoke.  I may be saddened to remember this day, 1 day away from a two year quit.  Happy Sad, Mixed Emotions. My heart is filled with love while shedding tears.  Mixed feelings mixed tears.  Happy sad day. Gosh I will remember this day.  She will be missed.  We use to laugh so very hard together. So I have the memories. Mixed feelings mixed tears. Happy sad day.

I won’t, don’t, need or have to smoke over it.  Not part of the process anymore.  Happy; I am very glad that I don’t do that anymore.  Condolences birthday wishes on the same day. Happy sad day. No need to smoke over it.  No problem.  God’s got this.  This too shall pass. Happy Sad Day.

Today I am reminded we are on this earth for a reason and only a season.  We are to spread love while we are here.  Just like NOPE no matter what.  Mixed feelings. Mixed tears. I am happy and sad but I don’t need a smoke to fix either one.  Just saying, I use to smoke whether I was happy or sad. How could it have fixed both.  Just rambling.  I am sad, Thank God I am free. Happy  Love you Joyce #tears happy birthday to me. Spread Love.

Description

We are in this together.

I received the above picture in a  comment of a blog I posted  on my 28th-dayquit. It made a impact on my quit.

I love angels also I posted this picture.  I believe in Angels.

Well I wanted to give myself something special for my birthday.  I did. I quit smoking. I just didn''t want to smoke anymore.  This quit is for all the other times I said I was going to quit and didn't.  I have arrived. Thank God. It has been almost a year and I am very thankful for the support here.  Quitting smoking has its ups and downs but it is doable as the elders say.  My advice is to get started and don't look back.  No matter what do not smoke.

I have posted several links that may assist you in educating yourself about smoking cessation. I wish you the very best.

I made a comment to someone the other night that EX is changing.  I have to correct that statement and say that EX is not changing, “I am.”   Within 15 days I will reach two years since the beginning of my “Freedom From Nicotine Journey”   I have grown as I continue living life as a nonsmoker which without a question is absolutely the best.  At this point, I may not need the daily push that EX offered me in the beginning.  So EX has not changed, I have.    Even though my quit buddies and I still hold each other’s hand, the main players are different but the object of the game hasn’t changed, I have.  For me the training wheels are off and I have been balancing safely.  To God be the Glory.  Once in a while it may get a little wobbly but I have the tools and support to steady myself.  I hope to be around to give someone a push when needed but nothing is promised. As we grow in our quits we realize that there are other areas of our lives we need to focus on

I reflect on my one year milestone when I realized that there is so much more to life beyond the quit.  I am relieved to experience life as a nonsmoker with new ideas, activities with a calm awareness for further personal development.   I acknowledge that prayers to God the Father, the Creator of the Universe has given me strength to make it this far.  With God’s love and help I am looking forward to another milestone with the assurance in my heart that I will NOPE.  Why?  I believe I have set myself up for success. It is not the milestone but what got me here.

  • I had to be willing to let go and take a leap of faith NOPE #1
  •
  • Learned that “Education is the key to a successful quit”.
  •
  •  A regular/daily involvement with EX.
  •
  • Listened to what the elders taught.(Some, most of the time, addicts are hard headed. lol)
  •
  • Read, studied, relearned, blogged and embraced my quit as a “doable challenge”
  •
  • No longer used smoking as an EXcuse or Option
  •
  • Made a choice for a better lifestyle
  •
  • Learned lessons and forgave myself for my past failures. HALT
  •
  • Moved forward believing I could do this one day at a time NO MATTER What!
  •
  • Let go of pride and denial that I was an addict.
  •
  • Used positive self-talk to take me through the hard times.
  •
  • NEF (never ever forget) from whence I came day WON

Quitting smoking is a process it does not happen overnight.  Challenge yourself each step of the way.  Set goals and work towards them.  Sounds clichély but it works.  You may have to go through some rough days to get to the forever smooth days.  If you stay the course you can have success. It is inside of us.  So don’t put it on a shelf like a trophy, keep it with you.  You have to exercise it.    Sheri  ( Dancingthrulife) said it so eloquently, “our quit is not here”.   Newbies I suggest that you should take the time to read some of her blogs along  Skygirl, Thomas, Storm, Marilyn just to name a few.

Hang Tough, Stay Close, Be mindful, Don't give in or up.

What is the Freedom Train? More  here

If you are new here, this vehicle provides a place for everyone to gather to celebrate the milestones and successes of those in our community. There are no tickets. The fuel for this locomotive is love and caring. The rides on this train are paid for in contributions to the quits of others! The only thing required to ride this train is a desire to breathe free. We encourage everyone to join in the celebration. No matter where you are in your quit, today is special, and is cause for celebration! Celebrate with others, and they will celebrate with you! There are no baggage fees; bring all your "EXtra baggage" and we will help you sort it out.

How do I count my days?

Your quit info is here

From time to time we have questions about counting days. While we encourage everyone to celebrate every day of their freedom, here on the Freedom Train we count the days you have completed. For example, Tommy quit on 01/01/2010. On 12/31/2010 he had reached 365 days. However, he had not completed a year until 01/01/2011.

 Where can I sign up?

You can register for the Freedom Train here.

 Have a question?

Please feel free to address any questions or suggestions to Pir8fan (Tommy) at any time.
