I just don't do that anymore. I quit smoking from one to one and one-half packs of cigarettes a day on June 10, 2010. I had already smoked 40 years past, trying to quit numerous times with the aid of a pregnancy, gum, pills, patches, hypnotism and cold turkey. My method of choice with this quit was cold turkey, with a strong determination to just not do that anymore. Also, this is the first time that I have ever had access to a site such as this, my ex-family. The support from the family members on this site has helped me to remain smokefree. It is a place to go to if you need to vent, laugh, cry or anything else, within reason, of course; but you learn to take what you need and leave the rest. Someone out there will grab your hand and walk with you, if you let them. If you remain true to your quit, it's an awesome, smokefree journey.
Special thanks to my daughter. She got the ball rolling with this final quit I am living now, and I thank her for that. She is the one who got me to log onto this site for the very first time. She wanted to quit smoking, and in an effort to support her, I quit. It was the only way I knew of to truly support her quit - quit too. That was my driving force, to finally be able to say, "I just don't do that anymore."
Although, my life has changed, major changes, since I quit, I remain part of the six percent. Find a reason to quit, then defend it with your life, because in the end, it's your life we're talking about. May your quit-smoking journey be filled with a love and peace inside your heart, no matter how your life's road twists and turns.

COMES THE DAWN
