Kicked Out of the Nest

Posted by IrishRose May 8, 2019

My babies got kicked out of the house today.  We finished putting the chicken coop together, and here are photos of them in their new pad

View inside of house (one in particular likes to have her photo taken)...

View of them too frightened to come out of the box...

After my husband pushed them outside of their new pad...

And, finally a photo of their entire living quarters...

Of course, I will keep you guys posted as they continue to grow up.

On a happier note, I finally brought myself around to get four new Rhode Island Red biddies.  It took me a good while to take that chance again.  The three chickens I had for over five years were killed by animals owned by a psychotic neighbor a few houses down who refused to control her pets.  Her pets are gone now, and I will once again attempt to enjoy these beautiful birds' personalities, antics and their fresh brown eggs when they start laying in another six or seven months.

Nothing tastes better than fresh brown eggs.  Actually, nothing tastes better until you stop smoking and remain smokefree, in order to allow your taste buds to enjoy things on a whole new and different level, especially fresh from your backyard.

Have a happy Saturday!

Major Number of E-Mails

Posted by IrishRose Apr 3, 2019

Did everyone get hundreds and hundreds of messages to show up in their inbox just recently???  Messages appeared from over eight years ago in my inbox.  So many people are just gone from here.  May I ask what is going on now?  UGH!  It saddened my heart to receive all these messages from people who have just disappeared from this site.  Many people as soon as just last year have not logged on since 2018.

I would like to apologize for being MIA for a number of days now.  When I get sad, I kind of keep to myself, because I do not like bringing other people down with my sadness.  That really is not the best way to handle things, but I have the urge to hide under a rock.  In any event, I am back.

My husband hung a bird feeder outside a window, because he knows I love taking photos of birds.

For those of you who just do not know what to do with yourself, because you want to smoke a cancer stick and need something to keep you occupied, I need your help.  I am having the hardest time identifying this sparrow.  I would appreciate you guys helping me try to figure out what kind of sparrow this is.

This is the little sparrow I am talking about...

I have lots more images if you need them to figure this out.  I am leaning towards the Chipping Sparrow, but I am not quite sure.  HELP, I need somebody!

All you old time quitters, please feel free to join into this discussion.

Thank you, and I promise it will keep your mind occupied and off wanting to smoke a cancer stick.  Try it, and you might even like it!

Have a happy Monday, and keep Twain's words in your head when you want to smoke a cancer stick.

In keeping my sanity with this computer headache, we are still able to take photos of wildlife, pull them up on this stupid computer and most important, post them on this site for my EX Family to see as a good smoking diversion.  I hope these two photos bring a smile to your face like they did for us just now.  A juvenile barred owl in the oak tree just 15 feet from our house.

Barred Owl:  "I am trying to sleep."

Barred Owl:  "Why did you wake me up?"

Isn't he/she beautiful?

I lost everything, but the good news is that I had everything backed up before I proceeded with the process of going back to Windows 7.  With back flashes this week of when I used to smoke to solve any problems facing me, I still did not go there.  Still smokefree.

It's just like when you quit smoking and begin your journey of a smokefree life, you have to take baby steps to be sure you do not fall.  With that said, you guys are the first ones I have been reaching out to as I get this computer back to working great again.  So, today when you see me babbling on, just remember, I am in test mode to see what is working and what is not.

Special thanks and big ((((hug)))) to jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007 for being awake and talking to me yesterday morning before I embarked on switching from Windows 10 to 7.  My computer was not compatible with 10.  I had to go back to 7.  Just his mere presence and support gave me the final  push I needed to just do it!!!

When I logged on this morning, I was unable to do a bunch of things, including the ability to post a blog, but I did see my buddies here who had left me notes of encouragement on my blog from yesterday.  The next time I logged on, I was able to at least "like" those comments.  Now, I must move forward to get things loaded, like my mail, an important component.  I started with nothing, but I will get things straightened out.

Love you guys,

Just In Case

Posted by IrishRose Sep 25, 2018

Just in case anyone missed me the past few days, I was having a time with my computer.  It was constantly locking up and would not allow me to do anything once I logged onto Ex.  Grrrrrrr!  All seems to be ok now that I removed Google's "My Way" program, which really should be called "Google's Way".

Today's Food for Thought....

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows.  It's what the sunflowers do."

We have been blessed here in South Carolina.  Please send your prayers, thoughts, hearts and whatever other spiritual ways you communicate to your higher being - send them to our neighbors in North Carolina.  The hurricane is, has and will be causing massive damage to those along waterways, due to the intensity of rain lingering with a system that is only moving two miles per hour.

I do not know how many of you guys are going to be affected by Hurricane Florence.

I just want to say, be safe, and may God be with you, your family and your pet animals.

I love this...

"What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have yet to be discovered."

–Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–82)

Get out of the weeds; they are flowers.  Have a happy, smokefree Thursday!!!

To all those closing the hatches in preparation for IRMA, may there be a silver lining on one of those clouds that pass over you.  My silver lining is that I have waterfront property until all the water from a huge storm drains into the Cooper River.

Find something positive to focus on, say a prayer, be strong, and hang in there!!!  And, it's just not worth smoking over either.  I've had to remind myself of that for two days now, and I quit 10 years ago.
