It is so much easier to quit smoking than it is to...

My son is my pride; there is nothing in this world I love more than I love him.  It was last week I shared with him how I am starving myself in order to get to a better weight, and lighten the task of the liver.  And he asks me: "Wasn't it easier to quit smoking than it is to lose weight?" And I never thought of it this way...but here goes.

When you quit smoking you get through the first couple of weeks, then the first month, then the first 6 months.  By then you already know pretty well how to stay quit, and things are just progressing along if you learn to use NOPE, and make it work for you. And know you will always make the choice not to smoke anymore.

When you are working on your weight, not only you have to be pretty much hungry all the time, but you are bombarded with food images as long as your eyes are open: your fridge, TV, food trucks on the road, lunches or snacks at work, restaurants, cafes on the surface streets, if you go for a walk in a populated neighborhood....and I could just continue.

This is for all the EX beginners, or for the "I am thinking about quitting smoking" out there:

Quitting smoking is not easy, but it is easier than many other things you have to do in life:

lose weight,

keep a regular exercise program,

raise a kid,

make a new home from scratch, several times,

change your residence from a country to another one,

be proficient in a new language, or two

change careers several times, and make them earn you a living.

and these are all things I have experienced, I am sure everyone can add to the list.

Please just do it, the big regret I have is I had not done it sooner, it is feasible, and easier than many other things.
