7 Lovely Logics

1.  Make peace with your past so it doesn't spoil your present.

2.  What others think of you is none of your business.

3.  Time heals almost everything, give the time, some time.

4.  No one is the reason for your happiness except you yourself.

5.  Don't compare your life with others.  You have no idea what their journey is all about.

6.  Stop thinking too much, its alright not to know all the answers.

7.  Smile, you don't own the problems of the world.

Some say that quitting smoking is a roller coaster ride.  To me, life is that ride.  From weddings to funerals to bankruptcy to births.....life definitely has its ups and downs.  New jobs, old friendships, misunderstandings.....need I go on?  I used to smoke through all this.  Whenever life got tense, I got stressed, things got uncomfortable....I smoked.  I didn't deal with the problem....I just smoked.

Smoking hasn't been an option for me for the past 417 days.  So, early in my quit, I had to consciously remind myself "I don't do that anymore" when I wanted to smoke rather than live.  Then I had to consciously think "What else can I do to handle my emotions?"  I had a host of things to do....take a walk, take a few deep breaths, laugh, dance, sing, talk to a friend....good grief, I could do so many other things than smoke!

In 417 days, I have done all those things and more.  I don't have to consciously remind myself "I don't do that anymore".  I don't even consciously have to think "What else can I do to handle my emotions?"  I automatically do something else!  Yep, I may head out the door for a walk.  I may take a few deep breaths and handle the situation.  Or I may simply allow life to happen without me doing anything about it at all.

What a delightful way to live!!  Life still hands me some challenges.  Life still holds some hurts and some sadness and some stress.  But I don't think about smoking through it.  I love my life and all its ups and downs.  I love my friends (and you know who you are!) and all their brightness and shine!  I love the challenges and the beauty, the splendor and the struggles.

I live those 7 lovely logics at the top of this blog.  It helped in the early days of my quit.  Along with being positive, understanding that smoking was not an option, and knowing that even if I didn't quite want to quit, I could still do it.  It was all.....it IS all....worth it.  I'm worth it!  And so are you!!  Delight in your life.....delight in you!!  You are worth it.

Happy Saturday and God Bless!!

Sheri
