30 Days Smoke Free!

Good Evening.  Well, it's been 30 days since I have smoked and I am so happy to reach this milestone.  I know they say it takes 21 days to kick or create a new habit, but I don't agree wholeheartedly with statements that lump everyone into an average.  We are all so very different and smoking can be a very personal thing.  I smoked mostly alone, but I think many people over 50 do now because it has become a dark shadow.  Many of our smoking friends have quit long ago.

I want to encourage all of you who are on this beautiful, healthy, smoke free path to affirm out loud daily and often that you will never smoke again. I quit many, many times and never made that commitment, never made that vow.  I think this has made a huge difference for me.  There isn't anything good about smoking.  You never feel satisfied and the longer you smoke the worse it gets.

I had a really good day.  I felt proud of myself today.  I worked and worked out and then led a meditation group this evening.  How freeing to not have to try and fit cigarettes into my day and do extra hand washing and teeth brushing and changing from my smoking coat to my non-smoking coat!!  A huge bonus is that I am so much calmer. It takes a little while to get there, but you do.  As time passes, you are able to release the cravings, the memories, the knee jerk thought of needing a cigarette.  I have a ways to go but each day brings more confidence.

It's wonderful to have the EX Community!!  I look forward to pledging daily and riding the Freedom Train and reading what everyone else has to say and learning and helping and caring and feeling like I belong.  Thank you all!!
